People are too harsh on Paire.
Those who were actually there can tell that there's a little more to this match than could be shown on the TV (let alone the SB).
Fact is Wednesday is the notorious kid's day in Rotterdam.
Anyone who's been there, knows this means terrible noise, people running all over the place (huh, you actually have to wait for a change-over to enter the stands? Never heard of that!
), no stewards around to silence down the pandemonium whatsoever - and though it's not an excuse for Paire's behaviour and "perfornance", lots, if not most, genuine tennis fans in the crowd felt very sorry for him. Paire found himself completely rattled by the occasion, asked for the ump to ask for a bit more silence a couple of times (which helped for about 0,05 secs) and became so frustrated that he even hit a ball into the stands. Hence, 6-0 in 22 minutes and the match facually looked a lost case ever since.
Like I said, it's no excuse and Paire should most definitely learn to play during such circumstances, but I well remember Monfils getting likewise rattled two years ago at the same occasion. And old fox like Baggy won't let it get to him, in contrary to the less experienced players.
It wouldn't at all hurt if the tournament PTB took heed of the complaints of both players like Paire AND the serious tennis fans in the crowd - at least have a bunch of stewards around to put an end to the mess when it gets at its worst.
