Vina del Mar R2: Paolo Lorenzi def. Tommy Robredo 6-4 6-4

Tommy couldn't handle the grind and pressure by Paolo, who is another great example of steady improvement at a rather advanced age for tennis.

Far from gifted, compensates with tons of fighting and heart. Top 50 closing in

Good for Paolo. Hope he can get in the TOP 50. Very hard-working guy.

^ exactly, I've never liked his game and even dissed him about it here but, man, it would be a nice reward for him after so many years of grinding through Challengers. Huge heart, awesome work ethic and very humble too.. plus, never enough WARRIORS in the top 50 imo

I didn't see this loss coming Kudos to Lorenzi for fighting and being consistent. I thought he fluked his way into the Top 100, but he seems to be really keen on staying there

I remember the match against Nadal in Rome 2011, he almost pulls the biggest upset in the open era lol.

I'm dreaming of a combination of Berlocq and Lorenzi. The ultimate player.

Great for the sport. Anyone that looks like Steve Buscemi and taking out Boredo all good.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

yes, this guy actually does s&v in challengers and he won sets off nadal (on clay!) and murray, when he was ranked nowhere close to top 50

just nole seems like a bad match up, at least in the slams
