i also thought "fixed" at first, but this garin kid is junior top 10, for instance lately won eddie herr (big junior event) in singles and doubles, won orange bowl in doubles in december, played competitively against bolelli in dc, and lajovic is an average challenger player without any serious break through, probably couldn't handle chilean crowd either, due to inexperience

big chance of this being a valid score and surely chileans have a right to put hopes in their kid

Saw Garin lose a tight one against Quinzi at Wimbly juniors last year, liked his style and personality.

16 year old WC winning 1st ever ATP match vs. a decent player in fine fashion, do we have the next Rafa on our hands, great for the game.

The 1996 generation definitely has a lot more potential than 1993-1995. There are a few names that can achieve greatness by working on their natural talent.

Kyrgios and Edmund from 95 look promising though.

Garin would first have to be better than his fellow generation mates, which is far from obvious comparing to Quinzi especially.

For info, Nadal, Gasquet and Ryan Harrison (the latter against Pablo Cuevas on hartru) were 15 years and 10 or 11 months when they won their first match at the ATP level, nearly one year younger.

The record is held by Franco Davin, Del Po's coach, at 15 years and one month.

Well wouldn't you say with this win he is already better than them, I know he's ranked as the #10 junior, but that's junior, just cause Quinzi's a better junior does not mean he will be a better pro.

Quinzi didn't win any match on the ATP level and he is already 17. He is not in a hurry to do so either, as his higher ranking is determined by results in the Futures circuit only.
