The only serious injury Dancevic ever had was in his head. It is also one of the reasons why he can perform on big occasions. The downside: he can lose to just about anyone that has the luck to be over on the other side of the net.

Congrats Dancevic, had nearly defeated the great Paul-Henri Mathieu last week (lost but won more points than him in that match), that meant something

especially as in next round Canada will receive again

well, speaking of "tank", and as MTFers like to use it in utterly wrong moments, one can say that Spain did indeed "tank" that tie by not using their best 4 players.

I feel sorry for the team who will face Spain in play-offs

Exactly. They'll use a combination of Ferrer/Almagro/Nadal in the play offs I'm sure and cruise. I mean Albert Ramos got to play a live singles rubber!! I don't understand why Verdasco didn't play. All the others had injuries and/or legitimate rest concerns - Ferrer got to AO SF and had said before he needed to rest and Nadal wasn't going to make his comeback on indoor HC...

WTF Marcel

Frank is not a bad player at all, but a demolition like that against a guy who should be inferior to Marcel on the baseline is unacceptable

Why is Verdasco not playing in this tie?

Only serious injury was in his head? Um, no. Frank was on a major roll last year (winning Dallas 2 .. probably the toughest challenger of the year) and was heading for another potential win when his back audibly cracked ... ugly, ugly, .. and ugly timing. Glad to see he is back. But, yes, his inconsistency is maddening. Can torch top-50 guys or get torched by someone outside of top-300 ... you just never know.

Even with the top 3 missing Spain would normally hold their own against Canada.

When the era of Nadal and Ferrer pass Spain will struggle in the near future to go deep in the Davis Cup because I see no good replacements.

The current greatness league of active players in order of achievements to date (a factual comparison rather than fan biased assessment):

Federer 17 GS, 6 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.
Nadal 14 GS, 27 Master Series, 1 Olympic Gold.
Djokovic 9 GS, 4 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.
