Milos didn't play very well at all beyond his serve. He just can't seem to help playing down to his competition, which is why I was disappointed when I heard Spain wasn't sending a top 20 player. Still, it's a victory. I just hope he'll start playing better soon. Has a lot of points to defend over the next month.
re: not playing well, it is starting to seem that his first match at ANY tourney is really not good ... and then he plays better as week goes on. Which, if he learns to get through those first rough ones, I guess is a good thing. If it comes down to Sunday against Granollers, I'm actually not that worried; anything can happen of course but Ramos was actually probably the more difficult opponent for Milos.
I do think Milos is at least making progress on his ROS - huge improvement over last year. Those unforced errors though ... ugh. In the tiebreak when Milos was up 5-4, all 4 of Ramos's points came on unforced forehand winners on points Milos was clearly controlling.
re: points to defend, for sure. He could potentially fall out of top-16 if he doesn't do really well in both San Jose & Memphis.
