isn't he the finalist of junior Wimby against Dimitrov few years ago?

I mean, Lazov is out of top 500, doesn't sound like that big of a win overall..and Lazov is a clear clay specialist, i never would have played him in this match, i knew he was up for a loss pretty much.

So? Why isn't he playing?
He's having some disputes with the Finnish Tennis Federation... The tennis federation are being dicks, Jarkko started a new Tennis Academy in Finland, and gave all his prize money from playing the Helsinki Challenger to the Academy and probably invests a lot more in it and then the Federation decided that they didn't want to work together with Jarkko's Academy and started working together with some Swedes instead . Jarkko was a bit annoyed and rightly so, he's done so much for Finnish tennis and then the Academy snubbed him for some stupid reason.

Anyways, great win for Micke . The doubles might not be as straightforward as many think, if Henri Kontinen plays and is fit, he's a great doubles player.

Only Del Potro can take him out before the semis, and he won't. Nadal is winning the AO, bet your house on it.

oh, right, then good performance from the little Kontinen.

I saw he's had some serious wins in 2011 btw, a couple guys inside the top 300 or smth.

And why isn't Henry playing the singles? some health issues? I see he's to play the doubles with Heliovaara.

From the Bulgarian side the press says that Grigor and Kuzmanov will be the pair today.

Henri Kontinen has struggled with injuries ever since he made the transition from juniors. Knee injury has been a big one, has had a lot of treatment and finally went to a knee specialist in Sweden who operated on him last year. The surgeon said that Henri's knee injury was one of the toughest he's ever had to work with, and this guy is someone who specializes in athletes' knee injuries...

He's mad talented though, and still "only" 22 I think so there's time.

Henry's a very solid and sharp player, watched the doubles they won today and he was really rock solid, best player of the 4 i thought.

Hopefully he keeps fit and gets where he belongs to. Unfortunately i doubt his clay capabilities, just too much of a fast courts style he has, but should be enough for a top 100 one of these days.

Re: Micke Kontinen def. Lazov 76 63 64 Finland-Bulgaria 1-1 now!!

he is really the better player by far in the squad, but he is scheduled to make his comeback in some weeks, maybe 1 month. he is not really ready yet to play another 5 setter after playing today 5 sets, considering he hasnt competed for almost a year...
