Del Potro just had to avoid Chardy and he will be in the final.

Favourite? 2011, perhaps (though the bookies would argue against you) but certainly not 2012. The favourite won last year.

Re: Who is the early favorite for Roland Garros 2013?

Pretty sad to think that it's kind of possible to predict the early RG favourites after the AO 2013.

You would have thought of as a loony to do such a thing even 10 years ago. Alas, that's the reality of surface homogenisation.

Cmon man. For a guy who hasn't stepped on court in 6 months, has had to drop out of a friggin exhibition with a virus and now out of a slam, you're telling me he's automatically a favorite for a tournament 6 months down the road?

2009 wasn't a choke, his fitness was just absurdly low at the time. He absolutely dominated Federer in the first 3 sets - Fed didn't even get a break point in 3 sets - but Fed somehow eeked out the second set in a tiebreak and eventually outlasted Delpo. It was a bit like the AO semifinal this year (Murray vs Fed) in terms of ascendency, only with Murray remaining strong for 5 sets and Delpo running out of gas.

Shame, since he'd definitely have beaten Soderling in the final, was only a few points away from a RG title. But that match made him improve his fitness, which proved crucial at USO so it was all good.

MTF games titles:

Suicide Tennis (5): Wimbledon 2014, World Tour Finals 2015, Madrid 2015, Kuala Lumpur 2014 and Metz 2015 - 1 Slam, 1 WTF, 1 Masters 1000, 2 ATP 250; 2 finals lost

Fill-in-the-Draw (3): US Open 2014, Rotterdam 2013 and Geneva 2015 - 1 Slam, 1 ATP 500 and 1 ATP 250

Tennis Tipping (3): Veneza and Todi 2014 (with vn01), Knoxville 2015 (with Redkop) - 3 challengers; 7 finals lost

If Nadal plays, Nadal is the favourite.

theres only two possible reasons:

1) people are deluded

2) we're living in a weak clay court era that allows a part-timer to win RG, kind of like how serena williams can come back in to kick the rest of the WTA field in grand slams after playing 2 matches for the whole year
