Nadal can't come back to save tennis fast enough! My eyes hurt from watching that final.

Re: Rate the 2013 Australian Open

Except for the winner (more or less..), it was mostly disappointing.

Nadal wasn't missed.
Many frustrating matches.

3. Expected semi-finalists, very few notable shocks, and a dull grind of a final. Add in the saddening (but unfortunately inevitable) decline of Federer and Baghdatis's lame exit, and it's not a slam that will live long in the memory for me.

It was a good tournament, but nothing overly-special.

Best match: Djokovic vs. Wawrinka

AO is my favourite Slam to watch. There were some dramatic matches on both sides of the draw, and the end result was satisfatory.7/10.

Ssshhh..........

current average : 5.67

Je n'enlève rien à ce que Novak a fait mais je crois qu'il faut encore faire davantage. Rafa a neuf Grands Chelems, moi seize, lui deux.

Re: Rate the 2013 Australian Open

besides the Wawrinka - Djokovic match, this was one of the worst grand slams in a long long long long time.

honestly I can't think of one worse. even US Open 2012 I can at least remember more than ONE good match in the entire draw, ala Ferrer - Tipsarevic, Berdych - Federer, etc.

totally dissapointing, and it's not even the result that I mind, just literally almost no great dramatic and fascinating matches. unless you consider something like that snoozefest with Simon and Monfils entertaining. what's worse, the final was really non octane stuff, I mean it just seemed so casual

<3 Roger Federer <3 David Ferrer <3 Juan Martin Del Potro <3 Ernest Gulbis <3

------------------------ <3 Richard Gasquet <3

it's great if you're happy with the result, but it's a liie to say there were 'dramatic' quality matches on both sides of the draw. besides Wawrinka - Djokovic, during the WHOLE tournament what would you consider a dramatic high quality match? this was the most void tournament of those in a long time

this mate, Nadal might be his own version of PONG, hounding the baseline, but at least he has passion and charisma in midst of match. also without him the draws and drama has been toned down so much, the results are such a given

Re: Rate the 2013 Australian Open

AO used to be the surprise slam. Historically it's always been the outlier, the "4th slam" that sometimes is and sometimes isn't. Even now it still feels out of place, being in January when all the other slams are within the same few months and have a consistent leadup.

All of that is gone. A few years ago Chardy would have made a surprise run, crushed Murray, and made the final. Wawrinka maybe could have as well. Now they both get ground down to nothing and the top 4 easily make the semis. All that's left is a subpar slam, barely different from the USO. A terrible final, a series of memorable matches only because they highlight how awful tennis is (Wawrinka-Djokovic, Almagro-Ferrer, Simon-Monfils), and another tennis record ruined.

This is great for casual tennis fans who tune in for semis and finals, they get to see the same players over and over and the media gets to talk about the GOAT era. But for anyone with a brain we can see how terrible it all is.

Re: Rate the 2013 Australian Open

Wawrinka Djokovic, Federer Tsonga, Federer Murray even Tomic Federer was a good quality and nothing else at this AO . one Boring SF and one good SF and absolutely boring final . I have not seen Murray to play one good player to SF so he was on holiday,Ferrer had such easy draw and played bad , Thanks to Wawrinka who decided to play the match of his life . Maybe those players are paid too much money and forgot they would need fans as well.
