Is it the first time #1 seeds won in singles and doubles in both genders, in a Slam?

Errani/Vinci #1 seeds in women doubles - check

Vika Azarenka #1 in women singles - check

Bryan Bros #1 in men doubles - check

Nole #1 in men singles - check

Maybe some stats geeks like Voo de Mar or someone else knows the answer to this. If this happened, when was the last time?

Thanks in advance

Maybe. Can't really remember. ESPN had a stat up about it but I can't recall whether or not they said that it was the first time.

They also said something about top seeds in singles defended their slam titles.

hmm, only Wimbies so far, makes this one special then.

Another anomaly - 25 consecutive different winner in the girls tournament.

Probably on AO

“Does Djokovic resemble myself?” Agassi said. “No, he is even better. He defends really well, while I struggled more in that element of the game. Novak looks totally relaxed when defending, completely calm and the quality of his return is incredible. He is also extremely flexible in his game, which is facilitated by his ability to anticipate his rival’s moves. That is why I think he is a much more versatile player than I was and he is also much more athletic.”

I don't find it that surprising TBH, because how many years do you really spend on the juniors tour.

Disgusting for the game that Noserenka won another slam. At least Nole didn't let us down and brought some resemblance of sanity to tennis.

Thanks a lot. So this slam was indeed special. First time outside Wimbledon. Very interesting that only until now, those rare ocasions happened in the same GS.
