Re: Who Has The Better Forehand? Murray or Djokovic?

I was going to go into reasons why Djokovic has the better forehand - but I can't be bothered, this thread is far too amusing

The poll speaks for itself.

On a more serious note, there is one shot which Andy Murray tends not to use - a shot that is the staple of any aspiring top player - the inside out forehand to the opponents backhand. One of the reasons for that is despite Andy being a great athlete, he doesn't run around backhand to hit forehand a lot (at all?)

There are not too many players since 1990 who have won slams and not had the inside out forehand as a major part of their arsenal. The only players I can think of are Pat Rafter and Stefan Edberg.

The Murray backhand is exceptional and much higher level than forehand so does not run around the backhand.

Indeed, but still we all know that at the highest level its the forehand that really does the consistent damage.

In the womens game, Henin had a great backhand when she was a youngster but became a great player once she developed her forehand.

Yes Murray's got a good forehand pass, but he only ever goes cross-court so it's extremely predictable all be it effective most of the time. It still baffles me when players come to the net on Murray's forehand and cover down the line! Players still play to Murray's backhand too often for me and if you look at the matches when Murray's lost more often than not it's because the majority of the match has been played to his forehand, the most recent example of this was Monfils in Paris. He got his tactics spot on.

People always say Murray hasn't won a slam yet is because he's too defensive, but it's his lack of weight on the forehand side that constantly lets him down in a game where every mother and her dog has a big forehand.

Re: Who Has The Better Forehand? Murray or Djokovic?

Question isn't specific enough. For example, Djokovic has a better rally forehand, but Murray has a better running forehand.

Overall, you would have to say that Nole's is superior.

He does run around his backhand sometimes, but why the fuck would he choose to hit his forehand instead of his backhand? Use your head.
