Re: Do you like Murray-Djokovic matches

You have to have Edberg serve & volley on grass to volley 40+ winners.
Today's players can move and rally 30-35 shots. The last 8 years, there were no weak or overweight champs that could escape with Slams while having awful volleys & pitiful serve placement in semifinals. The servebots usually tire out/choke badly in 4-shot rallies if they manage to reach rare Slam finals today.

Absolutely. Two great players and epic fights - more often than not.

Re: Do you like Murray-Djokovic matches

Not especially. They rarely play their best at the same time and something about the match up means Nole plays down to Murray's level.

I enjoyed the AO '11 match.

Re: Do you like Murray-Djokovic matches

If these two play, it generally means something big is on the line, therefore they both fight really hard. That part of it is engrossing, so I can't really not like.

I think when Murray plays with purpose (Olympic SF), these matches are interesting. When he doesn't come in with a specific gameplan and just plays the moment (US Open F), the matches get quite boring. Always a big fight, though.

Re: Do you like Murray-Djokovic matches

Generally, no, from the ones I've seen I find them a bit dull and long-winded - too similar in style. I recorded the match that I watched live at WTF last year, but haven't been able to face watching it again yet. But maybe things will change if Murray has become a bit more aggressive.

I'd certainly have preferred to see a fit Federer against Djokovic than Murray/D in the AO final.

Re: Do you like Murray-Djokovic matches

let's put it is this way 'if you like tennis, you watch tennis matches'. not sure what is to like or dislike.

i.e some of Nole/Fed matches were horrible shitfest sessions of UE, some of them were amazing.

and please stop with this surface stuff for God's sake. just boring me to death lately. it is what it is. It's not like Djokovic or Murray or whoever are creating these tennis courts. Players play and adjust. OK, give us some super fast courts and then what? who would be winning?

I hate any match Annie Mugray participates in. He turns every match into a pushathon even against low rank mugs.

Del Potro, Tsonga, Berdych.... if we're including delusional fantasies.

If it wasn't for the US Open final, this thread wouldn't even exist. What kind of tennis fan wouldn't have enjoyed their match this time last year?

Fans that enjoy proactive attacking tennis? The SF was almost at the same level of mind numbing tennis as the final against Nadal.
