Re: Djokovic vs Murray matches: is the match always on Djokovic's racket?

A multi slam winner with rock solid mentality, best 2 hander in the game, lethal off both wings, best return and sick defense better than a pushing, swearing hooligan with no forehand and one fluked GS?

Nole > Mandy, the matches are always on his racquet.

Re: Djokovic vs Murray matches: is the match always on Djokovic's racket?

Interesting quote by Tipsy, which i already suspected. Might be the main difference with Murray.

Quote:
World No. 9 Janko Tipsarevic discusses countryman and world No. 1 Novak Djokovic at the ATP World Tour Finals.

“Last year was something special,” Tipsarevic told reporters when asked about his close friend Djokovic. “I’m not going to say it’s never going to happen because this sport is full of surprises. But, to be honest with you, I was expecting him to stay No. 1, because just talking to this guy -- this is maybe a little bit too personal -- but in my opinion on his mind is only one thing: To be the best and No. 1 in the world forever and ever and ever. So I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays the No. 1 all throughout next year and win whatever goal he has in his mind, like more Grand Slams, French Open, all four.”

The match is always on Djokovic's racket except on grass, apparently.

Grass is the only surface I'm confident that Murray will always beat Djokovic. On grass the match will always be on Murray's racket.

Re: Endless Djokovic/Murray Debates (Are their matches boring)

It's on neither's racquet because neither is an especially aggressive player, although both have big weapons. Djokovic used to be aggressive (going for winners early in a point) in 2007/8. Since then he has basically been an aggressive grinder, rather like Ferrer with a backhand.

Re: Endless Djokovic/Murray Debates (Are their matches boring)

As for the question "are their matches boring", I think their last two matches (and even the one in the Olympics) have been great, great level especially, and they more and more look like a rivalry for the future, Nadal will need to go back very strongly to fight with them.

Their matches before were more boring, including the one in Melbourne in my eyes.

I actually think their most incredible matches so far have been Rome 2011, AO 2012 and Shanghai 2012. The problem with these two, as much as I love them, is that they neutralise each other and make more UEs that it's usual for them. However there are long patches of stunning shotmaking in all their matches which makes up for the ups and downs.

However i enjoy Rafole matches the most. Federer-Djokovic too.

Re: Endless Djokovic/Murray Debates (Are their matches boring)

Also funny to see this poll which was closed long before Nole's amazing season and they're both tied for the best careers. Well, Novak made a pretty clear statement, didn't he?

Yes. Boring mainly due to the unforced errors all over the place. The matchup is such a chore to watch. I watch only out of obligation, really.

Re: Endless Djokovic/Murray Debates (Are their matches boring)

I don't usually like it when a hold of serve is seen as more important than a break

And this match up tends to be a boring pushfest, when they both can actually play exciting tennis when playing other players (murray vs. fed, nole vs. Rafa/fed)
