Besides that, today was one of the better ones, because the court was faster. First set was WTA serving though.
I think Murray should come to net more generally, he won like 100% of his net points today and should have exploited his touch more. For Nole- I think he was coming to net a little too much actually, Murray's slices usually are very good/low, and the one clear edge in this match up is Murray's passing shots verses Nole's volleys.

Re: Does anyone find Noleray matches boring?

They can be boring matchup, today first set was pretty bore as they were just kinda bunting the ball back and hardly going for winners. It got really good later. USO final was pretty blah match, though.

The AO match was pretty boring. From what I watched of this it was pretty good.

They don't have single-handers, though. How can it not be boring?

Re: Does anyone find Noleray matches boring?

Agreed. OG semi was their best match quality wise by far. I enjoyed today due to the drama and occasional incredible point. But overall it's missing something. They're too similar and ultimately one gets sick of BH, BH, BH, BH.... Last year was too much Nole/Rafa. This year too much Nole/Andy. Variety is the spice of life - looking forward to some Andy/Rafa next year and maybe more Nole/Fed as all 3 encounters this year were real duds.

Ya.

Dubai wasn't too much fun because Murray served like Karlovic, 70% first serve, on a quick court. Just a freak one-off, but it basically made him unplayable (say if Federer served at 90% for a match).

Rome 2011 was a terrific match though.

Re: Does anyone find Noleray matches boring?

they're up and down.

On slow hardcourts they're too mcuh of a grind for my liking and baseline winners are basically non-existent.

Today's match was pretty good but it's still pretty annoying how their anticipation of the floaty high ball is so bad for two smart players.

So many points could end up so much earlier if they had the knowledge or conviction to attack the net at the right time.

Murray had 13/13 at the net today but he probably would have won if he had 20/25, just too stubborn staying at the back.

Especially at 5-4 30-0, the tweener point. Who the hell stays at the back after a successful lob???

Re: Does anyone find Noleray matches boring?

Its the best matchup in mens tennis. The shotmaking and drama that their matches have produced for two years has been unmatched. Novak/Rafa used to be very good, and federer/murray. Rafa/Federer has never been that good to watch. Usually the outcome in known before hand.

The match they played in Rome last year was amazing, best match they have ever played against each other. Tactically the most intreting match of the year. The clay adds something though that slow hardcourt does not have though.

Djokovic says himself and Murray might be the best tennis era ever

It seems that Nole has called himself and Murray perhaps the best era ever in tennis, now that's a bold statement if ever there was one, considering we've just been through the Rafa-Fed era: http://www.tennis.com/news/2012/10/d.../#.UHz1DY6kL9I
