This. Mugray never hits first serves in crucial moments.

Nadal went 3 slams without losing to anyone. Wouldn't Nadal be the biggest factor in slams now therefore? Or do you think Federer is? And who beats Nadal in slams? Murray.

Djokovic beats Federer in slams, but Federer is old news by comparison. Nadal is the player who will be competing for slams for years to come. He must be the biggest scalp. And in this thread we are looking for advantages Murray has over Djokovic. Being able to beat Nadal in slams is a big advantage.

Mugray beat Nadal in slams twice. When Nadal was tired and when he was injured. When Nadal is healthy he usually routines the pusher in straight sets. Refer to Wimbledon 2010 for further evidence.

Well, since Novak has 2 slams and Andy 0 at the moment, I guess it's not so big advantage after all. Whether it will be an advantage in the future or not is yet to be seen.

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

Re: What Does Murray Have Over Djokovic?

As for stamina, I would think Djokovic is better.

The most objective reason is that I believe being lighter must help in the long run : when I saw both of them live, it was obvious Djokovic was less "fine" technically (Murray has a great touch of the ball imo) but much "finer" physically, he's smaller with thin (and beautiful ) legs while Murray is tall with thick legs.

Then if I look at the past I remember some good showings of stamina from both :

- I remember a Djokovic who had great stamina in his early years, esp I remember Wimbledon 2007 but also many good 5-setters in his early years.

- Murray proved a good stamina in the US Open 2008 where he had several tough early rounds, also winning from being led like against Melzer. And he still had some energy left to end the tournament very well against Wawrinka and Nadal (I don't remember who he faced in QF).

But since then they have not looked as good, it seems. And we have so many pictures of them whining during their matches, looking exhausted ...

But apart from being light, the second reason why I think Djokovic has better stamina is that if both of them have been used to complaining during their matches, but I've always been astonished how Djokovic can forget bad points to play a good point next. I remember I had been shocked by that against Baghdatis in Wimbledon 2007. Many of his matches have been made with constant ups-and-downs but he often managed to get a little bit more of "ups" than downs, esp in clutch moments.

On the other side, when Murray starts whining, he seems to get systematically negative, esp in the matches which proved tougher than what he thought in the beginning. And he gives up. Watching Djokovic against Troicki then Murray against Wawrinka in the US Open was a good example in my mind. Murray looks like a child in these matches while Djokovic has proved very mature already in his early years.

Besides, yes, Djokovic has some health problems, esp in hot conditions, but Murray is not perfect either : I remember how he complained in Cinci last year.

For the return of serve, I also think Djokovic is better.

useless old guy

Yea, your reasoning is quite funny. Beating Nadal once or twice doesn't mean you have 'subscribed' and that he will lose every time in the future. Murray came to AO with favorable h2h against Novak only to lose in straights.

wasnt it 4-3 for djoko before AO?

it was london media screaming how those 3 wins, because they were last 3 matches they played, meant something. not a word on how close they were, or in what state djoker was at the time.

ouch! what an own goal.

Not really, because he isn't a loser.

Since when has he faked injury?
He never retires, unless he has to, to make sure he doesn't make an injury worse (same for withdrawing) and he never fakes injury. In fact, he has never taken a fake timeout either.

point construction? I guess some people believe andy is more 'technically gifted' in this department as well
Murray's point construction is mostly the reason why he wins points, among other things. He is more talented than Novak and is smarter and has a much better touch (slices, lobs, volleys and dinks are all better than Novak's)
