Why does the ATP give America so many events?

11 events in USA throughout the 2013 calender, none in Czech republic (where a top 10 player is from) and very few in countries that have a large Tennis interest. Why does the ATP give America so many events? Sure America is a large country, but I think 11 is a bit too much to cater for all of America's needs. IMO each country should have a maximum of 5 events. I mean I find it a little bit shit that Czech has none, and here in the UK they only have events down south. Why can't Manchester or Liverpool have an event? I mean even Switzerland where the GOAT is from only has 2 events.. Silly.

Mark Lenders banged your girlfriend, I'm sorry to tell you that mate.

Very pathetic that the Czech Republic doesn't have one.

US definitely has far too many though.

Money. And you have to buy a tournament and move it to another place.

Peter Polansky
Nestor - Chvojka - Pospisil - Raonic - Peliwo

Money, plus historical tradition.

However, LA and San Jose's tournaments moved to South America.....

Money talks. Sponsors too.

Biggest sponsors are US based companies.

“Does Djokovic resemble myself?” Agassi said. “No, he is even better. He defends really well, while I struggled more in that element of the game. Novak looks totally relaxed when defending, completely calm and the quality of his return is incredible. He is also extremely flexible in his game, which is facilitated by his ability to anticipate his rival’s moves. That is why I think he is a much more versatile player than I was and he is also much more athletic.”

At least people occasionally show up to events in America. Better than completely empty stadiums in China.

If events aren't getting fans, move them. Money or not, they should not allow events in places where no one watches. Disgusting to think it happens.

Re: Why does the ATP give America so many events?

Questioning the country with the most tennis players in the World is not too bright imo lol

124 American players have ATP points, so it's kinda normal to have many tournaments there.

The Czech Republik has 3 challengers, 100K Prague, 42.5 Ostrava and 127.5 in Prostejov, so they are busy enough i guess.

Re: Why does the ATP give America so many events?

Because more great champions have came out of america than anywhere else. Yes, american tennis is in bad shape, but things don't change quickly enough for them to be ripped away of all their tournaments already.

Events that their #1 player can't play. Even when Berdych was outside the top 10 he used to make the effort to play at least a challenger every year there. They really do need an ATP event now.
