Re: AO R4 : Federer beats Raonic 6-4 7-6(4) 6-2

I believe Federer is now the last player left in the draw who has not lost his serve.

The current greatness league of active players in order of achievements to date (a factual comparison rather than fan biased assessment):

Federer 17 GS, 6 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.
Nadal 14 GS, 27 Master Series, 1 Olympic Gold.
Djokovic 9 GS, 4 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.

No, nothing to do with Nadal, Fed is not leftie, so his right arm is bigger, he just joked about it.

Strange that Federer has a bigger right arm. Other players with one handed backhands, ie Haas, Wawrinka, Gasquet, seem to have identical sized arms.

Here's an idea - why not talk about the match - if anyone has anything useful to contribute still? That is the point of the thread. What does Djokovic have to do with any of this? Stop the trolling please.

It was a great performance by Federer, but Raonic got it all wrong tactically.

So cveks' 37 useless posts are OK, but answers to those posts are deleted... Makes a lot of sense.

Muglos is such a joke Can't believe Muglos tards thought he would win a set let alone the match When your ground game sucks and your ROS is horrendous, you are going to lose...Muglos was never a threat here and it's a weak era when this mug is expected to challenge the best in the biz...Congrats, Fed and thank you for sending that trash packing Muglos needs to get his sorry ass back on a plane to Canada now and learn how to do something effective in tennis other than serve

The off topic banter makes many threads more interesting.

The current greatness league of active players in order of achievements to date (a factual comparison rather than fan biased assessment):

The discrepancy is usually nowhere what Federer's is. His left arm would go well with Simon's calves.

Raonic turned into a Roddick clown there. He just served and pushed...bad role model for a tall Serbian.

Tsonga is first player who can beat Fed and who was able to beat him on Grand Slams in the past.

Than comes Murray.

Grinder is guy who have both offensive and defensive game, and is able to defend himself until he dont get short ball to attack it.

Thats typical Federers game .

Thats why he is so successful . Because he is great grinder. Hardest thing to beat in tennis is - grinder.

Thats obvious.

He attacks serve from the first ball or what ?

No he just tries to keep ball as long as possible in the court , and waits for slower and shorter balls to attack.

Pusher , on other side doesnt have offensive game and he just tries to put ball back into game without trying to hit winners .

I see only two guys here who posses this kind of skills to beat Fed - Djokovic and Murray.

Maybe Berdych and Tsonga too on good day, but even on their good day Federer is still favorite to win.

Simply because Djokovic is better defender and grinder than Federer is.

Also Djokovic has bigger balls and mental strength .

Federer has better serve and forehand.

But Djokovic is able to nullify his serve and FH with his ROS and great defense.

No one expect for Fed to get out in R1-R4 . But he can be beaten in QF if he gets Berdych as we saw it before in USO 2012 . Or Soderling like it was in Roland Garros 2010.

Tsonga was able to defeat federer on slams in the past , but I think he wont be able to do that on AO hardcourt.

So its cakewalk draw for Fed until SF.

In SF he gets hardest possible for him - thats Murray.

Easier would be that he plays against Ferrer which he ownz with 14-0 score.

So draw for Fed is easy . Not easiest possible but its easy enough until SF.

But with game Wawrinka showed yesterday I am sure he would beat every player on ATP tour except Novak Djokovic.
