I know its not always the most effective tactic, but Fed has gotta be one of the greatest massive serve returners ever, that block return is totally neutralising, which makes me think he would of been just as dominant in the 90s.

Thats what I thought at IW after final with Isner who beat Nole in SF. I guess there is no one better against huge serves. Andy Roddick the same story.

Absolutely horrendous. He could 1) serve, 2) hit cross court forehands, but not more than 3 in a row. He couldn't do anything else. If you thought Roger was good, know that he could still go 3 gears above what he had to use for Raonic.

I especially enjoyed the commentary about him not bending his knees properly on returns, or jumping without any good reason when hitting a lot of forehands.

Anyone can be excused for losing to Federer at a slam, but this was really really subpar.

Dropshotting a servebot's serve.

A definite message from the great man.

Raonic looked woeful in literally 98% of the baseline exchanges. Missed countless regulation off forehands too and the backhands in the TB were comical. Santoro would have passed him off that approach.

Raonic said that he had injured foot and was in pain before match.

Djokovic took set 6-4 against Berdych.

“Does Djokovic resemble myself?” Agassi said. “No, he is even better. He defends really well, while I struggled more in that element of the game. Novak looks totally relaxed when defending, completely calm and the quality of his return is incredible. He is also extremely flexible in his game, which is facilitated by his ability to anticipate his rival’s moves. That is why I think he is a much more versatile player than I was and he is also much more athletic.”

That's a summary of the guy's career anyway, it's not about this match.

That's why i find it hard to have any appreciation as tennis players for guys like him, Anderson, Karlovic, a bit less Isner, but him too still.

Berdych and Del Potro are also sky scrapers, but at least they can play tennis for real.

I will never forgive him his statements about Djokovic when he was really young.
This coming from a Nole fan?

Re: AO R4 : Federer beats Raonic 6-4 7-6(4) 6-2

He has lost already more games than last year (and it was pre-final, now is pre-QF)

The Murray match was in 5, the Wawrinka in 6.

20% more points played.

Inevitably he will have physical problems, he won't be fresh enough and if Berdych starts the way Wawa did - he's cooked.

Back on topic - Fed is solid, Raonic as usual, blabla nothingtosayprettymuch

Federer's form looked much better in this match than in the Tomic match. Milos played better than I expected.

Re: AO R4 : Federer beats Raonic 6-4 7-6(4) 6-2

Did anyone else think that Federer was taking a dig at Rafa during the post match interview with Courier when Roger mentioned his "muscles and big left arm"? Personally, I thought he was trying to think of something funny to say at the spur of the moment, but could be taken another way by a Nadal fan.

Probably a dig at his own anorexic left arm actually.
