Re: WWW AO QF: Murray vs. Chardy
Interesting matchup, good to see a new face in a Slam quarterfinal. Murray will probably win, but I'll be backing Chardy here. He has already backed up his uspet over JMDP by living up to the latter's seed, but would be awesome if he could do even better.
He should have withdrawn from doubles as soon as he beat Delpo, that knee tape is obviously just precautionary and not a serious injury but when any minor hindrance plays a big part when you're trying to beat the best players in the world. In order to beat Murray, Chardy needs to play like he did against Delpo and, more importantly, avoid his choking tendencies at all cost: the way he almost choked the match vs JMDP despite being far superior in all sets is far from encouraging. The question is: can he play two awesome matches against top players in the same Slam (most players can only do it once)? Has he drawn enough confidence from the win over JMDP to believe he can win if he gets into position?
The most likely outcome is Murray in 3/4 sets, but if Chardy can somehow play his 'A' game again he can be as dangerous to Murray as JMDP would be imo. There's a reason he's ranked where he is, but he could have a breakthrough.
Supporting Jamvo1 for the ACC. Because he's not just playing for himself but sacrificing himself for the greater good, because he represents a noble cause (PM for details).
Because Jamvo1 is not the hero we deserve, but he's the hero we need. And because his victory will leave all the butthurt haters in ruins.
