You supported them, now you don't....why?

Hey tennis fans just joined the forum. Are there any players you initially supported, but recently you've been turned off by? how come? For me(an alteration of a post i made on the federer fan site forum)

Roddick-when he was the underdog and because he was american i liked him.......then he won the U.S Open and the #1 ranking(briefly, thank God) and started walking around with this self important swagger and yelling at the umpire for practically every point he doesn't win when he's losing, really lame .....NEWSFLASH: YOU ARE NOT JOHN MCENROE AND IT IS NOT 1982

Safin- really dug him, then the 'head case' emerged....lumbering around the court, abusing the umpire and breaking racquets, and when does he not look pissed?....from his demeanor you can't tell if he's winning or losing.Yet, I support him if he's playing anyone other than Rog

Nalbandian- great player, but where's the personality? his facial expressions range from scowl to blank stare to angry scowl (pretty much indistinguishable from the former). It's hard to be excited by someone so 'droidlike'. Peanut Butter is gross

ROGI ROCKS

not really, because i got to learn more about the players, so i kinda picked who i liked and who i didn't like after i got into tennis. I used to be more tolerant of Hewitt and Phillippoussis though, but i never really liked them

JUAN CARLOS FERRERO

Juan Monaco, Tommy Robredo, Fernando Gonzalez, Juan Martin Del Potro, David Ferrer, Guillermo Garcia Lopez, Juan Ignatio Chela, Fernando Verdasco, Carlos Moya, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Lucas Arnold Ker, Nicolas Lapentti

I really like Coria until he kept chronically beating Carlos. Same with Hewitt. I don't hate either, I just don't really care for them.

I used to like Ferrero, and then Madrid 2003, well, that explains everything.

What about Madrid 03??

His conduct against Ferreira told me a lot about his character and disposition to gamesmanship, something that still sticks in my mind today, as with Robredo's incident with Gaudio in Barcelona this year.

the lumberjack-walk can indeed be a great source of annoyance!

Re: You supported them, now you don't....y?

Not really- for me it was the other way around.

I used to hate Agassi when he was in his mid-twenties with all his self importance and arrogance and his on-court tirades. Plus I was a huge Sampras fan so that didn't help too much either

But as he got older after his amazing re-habilitation and run to the top of the game I slowly started to warm up to him. Now I really enjoy watching his matches and I savour any second I can get of watching him play

Re: You supported them, now you don't....y?

I don't really change my mind that often.

I used to like Roddick when he was first starting out, but then he got super-arrogant and I can't stand him now.

Conversely, I used to absolutely hate Hewitt, but now he's one of my favorites.

Re: You supported them, now you don't....y?

I used to quite like Coria because of his clay court abilities until I met him - then my mind changed VERY fast Conversely - I never liked Hewitt too much because of his on-court antics (I still hate all the C'mons!), but once I had met him a few times I thought he was a really sweet guy.
