Re: WWW AO QF: Djokovic vs. Berdych

As well as Wawrinka plays if Djokovic and Berdych both play like they played today, Berdych has a great chance.

Today Djokovic's return was far off where it should have been, and Berdych's serve is bigger than Wawrinka's. Djokovic will no doubt attack the second serve of Berdych but in the past Berdych has always had success when he's found his first serve against Djokovic (arguably the only reason he gets games at times), and I reckon he'll have more success than usual if Djokovic returns like he did today.

Lets not forget Berdych returns almost anyone's serves better than Djokovic's. But today Djokovic's serve was far off where it usually is. Berdych can at least manage to create chances and not give Djokovic a load of cheap points like usual if Djokovic doesn't improve his serving.

Djokovic might be a little tired too. As long as he doesn't go 2 sets down and just keeps extending the match this could come into play. He matched Djokovic shot to shot in the 2nd set back here in 2011 when Djokovic was arguably playing his best tennis ever so I reckon there's a good chance in him doing much better this time around.

Re: WWW AO QF: Djokovic vs. Berdych

I don't think it will be that easy for Djokovic to beat Berdych. But I still think Novak will secure his SF spot, winning in 4.

Re: WWW AO QF: Djokovic vs. Berdych

I doubt Berdych will play to the level that Stan did. And somehow I don't believe Nole will be out of steam for the QF. Berdych will need to mix it up; hit big and also have the ability to stay patient in rallies (something that he struggles with), and then maybe serve and volley to keep Nole guessing. Basically if he can replicate what Stan did, then he has a shot. But IMO, he won't.

On his day, Tomas can play power tennis even better than Stan. And nole is beatable. Berd can win, but it will be very hard.

Good luck Tomas.

he has to do it in 3 or 4 though. If it goes to 5 the Egg will win surely.

Berdshyte might have a realistic chance to win if he plays the match of his life, and the Djoker doesn't play better than today.

Re: WWW AO QF: Djokovic vs. Berdych

I wonder how many 5 setters Djokovic has in him.Does anyone think he could win against Berdych in 5 sets, then Ferrer in 5 and Federer/Murray in 5?I doubt that so he would need an easier win at some point. So this is the kind of match where he really needs a good start. He can`t get himself into another long battle.

Of course Nole in 3. Berd last year was playing monster tennis in the match against Nadal but it wasn't enough on this court, and Djok is even worse.

If Bashdyck had a brain, he would at least take a set.

Djokovic in 3

Re: WWW AO QF: Djokovic vs. Berdych

He's recovered from tough ones before. What about his epic 7-6 5th set against Sexy in USO'07? Went on to demolish everyone in straights (I think) to reach the final. Berdych will be fortunate to get one set here.
