I saw Starace very soundly beat Alexander Popp at the USO, and so in addition to his RG exploits he has given me ample evidence of his potential. I hope he can tap into a vein of consistency next season, unlike this year. He has time on his side.

Like beating Popp on non-grass is an achievement.

Saw that match too. Popp played one good set, then was totally hopeless. ANYONE would have beaten him that day.

Beating Popp on any surface isn't saying much most of the time, but I was going on how Starace was playing from his end of the court. I would still have been impressed if he'd played like that against Yukihiko Murata.

Re: Some players to watch in 2005

Marat Safin- he'll be a contender at all the slams next year
Guillermo Coria- once he's back to the top of his game watch out for him on all surfaces
Andre Agassi- next season might be his last and he'll probably want to go out with a bang
Rafael Nadal- once he matures he'll be great
Tommy Haas- he won matches that he wasn't suppose to win(Beat Roddick for US clay court title)

Monfils
Simmons
Scoville

Q. When you've played as few matches as you have over the last two, three months, did you ever lack motivation to go out and practice?

ANDY RODDICK: Motivation? No. I enjoy what I do. I enjoy what I do. You know, I've never been one to, you know, blow off practice or, you know, do anything like that.

You know, I'd be lying if I said I'm looking forward to practicing the next two days as opposed to playing here. That part is gonna suck...(2010 Aegon Championships)

Nadal, Monfils, Mathieu.

I am not denying that he's got potential. But if you are honest, one good US Open round (OK 'good'..) doesn't account for a good second half of the season

BEMELMANS | CHARDY | CHIUDINELLI
CIPOLLA| ROGER-VASSELIN | MCGEE

He was a non-entity for the second half of the season, certainly, but the game is there... Potito has the top 20 in his sights.

True. Florian Mayer was giving Agassi a really really hard time... I believe he could even have won. Considering Agassi just bashed people like Ginepri and Novak, it's an achievement.
