Insane match.Unbelievable level.Huge credits to Wawrinka, the best match of his career and he deserved to win this really, but didn't.
I'm not sure how much will this affect Djokovic really, normally even a long 5-setter wouldnt bother him too much for the rest of the tournament, but this was 5 hours and really epic stuff. We'll see.

Major props to Stan the Man, though. He really gave his all. Extremely admirable effort

Surprising lack of excitement in that final set with serve being held so easily. Until that last game, that is, when both players really stepped it up. Great tenacity from Wawrinka and a sublime point by Djokovic to take the match.

The right player won, IMO, but it's unfortunate there had to be a loser.

Nole the great is about to fall, I said he would win this tourney before when he machine gunned Harrison, but now I don't think he will after this performance, if he keeps playing like this, then Berdych surely can beat him, Almagro can, Ferrer can, Tsonga can, Federer can and Murray can.

Stan had to play too many stunning shots to win points on the Plexicushion, yet still took it all the way.

Bad umpiring. Nole fought well despite being outplayed for long spells as you'd expect from such a champ.

Luckily for #1, he has his pet dog Berdych next...

Best match of the open era for me. Say what you want i have never seen this in my life.

The way Stan was saving those match points, the way Nole converted the last one, the whole match - everything was absolutely amazing.

Kudos to both and from now on Stan is in my all time favorite players list.

Just WOW

Apart from Wawa's horrific choke in set 2, this was an incredible match and Stan really gave it all out there. He won't get any sleep tonight though. He had multiple chances to grab this match, especially at 4-4 on Djokovic's serve... he had 40-15* and at least 2 more break points after that.

Hats off to Nole though. What a fighter he is.

Nole's future opponents can be encouraged, however - he is VERY beatable.

Berdych next. Could be a cracker that one too.

Really disrespectful to Stan. I don't really have a problem with in when he wins the the tournament, but Nole has accomplished so much that Stan can only dream of- then to do that. Leaves a bad taste.

Uhm... surely you missed the robbery at 4-4 where Stan broke Nole only to have Molina mention it was out and convincing Wawa not to challenge

It's easy to understand Stan when he has practically lost every challenge throughout the match.

I'm stunned. Stan choked then fought back but Novak just never gave in. Stan could have won/should have won but Novak was the better player right at the end.

Both deserve credit .

All the very best for 2013 to:

Aga; Ana; Maria; Vika. Come on Caroline, prove everyone wrong!

Andy, Novak. Have a wonderful 2013!!
