WWW Australian Open R4: Ferrer v. Nishikori

Kei leads the match-up 2-1. Should be a great game.

RIP Henry Chinaski. A true MTF legend

Match of rd 4, no doubt. So it will surely be dumped into Hisense and the TV will show only RLA.

Kei has defeated Ferrer in USO as a youngster. He can surely follow up that win in the prime of his career now.

Ferrer in 3 or 4. Simply too good, despite the H2H. I like Kei but it will be awesome to finally shut Lenders up.

Ferrer in 3 and 123124 posts from Lenders that Kei was clearly injured and jinxed.

Re: WWW Australian Open R4: Ferrer v. Nishikori

Lol @ Ferrer being "too good". Kei beat him in a major as a youth!

Anyway, this is one of the more worthy "WWW"'s (most have been arbitrary). I'm gonna say Kei does it in 4: 6-4 7-5 3-6 6-4

And not to make excuses, but Nishikori actually was having his ankle taped during an MTO while he was up like a set and a break in yesterday's match, so he could have legitimate issues going forward.

One match 5 years ago means anything?

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

Re: WWW Australian Open R4: Ferrer v. Nishikori

It fully depends on Kei's health. If he is fully fit, he wins this match as he's the far better player: you can even expect bakery products ala Olympic match. If he's not, anything can happen; so far, he got an MTO in every match and has been having his knee taped so I fear for the worst.

Let's hope it's unfounded fears though, it'd be horrendous for the game if a pushing vulture like Ferrer advanced through the draw at the expense of a young exciting player, not to mention a talented shotmaker, like Kei.

MTF games titles:

Suicide Tennis (5): Wimbledon 2014, World Tour Finals 2015, Madrid 2015, Kuala Lumpur 2014 and Metz 2015 - 1 Slam, 1 WTF, 1 Masters 1000, 2 ATP 250; 2 finals lost

Fill-in-the-Draw (3): US Open 2014, Rotterdam 2013 and Geneva 2015 - 1 Slam, 1 ATP 500 and 1 ATP 250

Tennis Tipping (3): Veneza and Todi 2014 (with vn01), Knoxville 2015 (with Redkop) - 3 challengers; 7 finals lost

Yes, it does, because Kei was a fecking teen, and Ferrer had already established himself as a top player, even (and perhaps particularly) on hards. Would you rather me cite their recent Olympic encounter?

To suggest that Ferrer's simply too good is fanaticism; it's ignorant of multiple things, not in the least bit the fact that his opponent has beat him in a hc major before.

Ferrer is a top player, no doubt, but you guys are ascribing him an aura that he hasn't yet earned.

This. Not to mention Kei bagelled him a few months ago at Olympics. It's the other way round actually: Ferrer needs to rely on injury to have a shot.

A little trip down memory lane:
