Now that Federer has finally made it into the 3rd round what do the supreme tennis analysts of MTF think of this encounter? Serious responses only please...
a brilliant start to the season for bernie, but he did himself no favors with his earlier remarks which seemed to irk pinkerer. the buck stops here....
People predicting multiple breaks in each set are probably being pretty optimistic. Tomic has been serving pretty well. But, I can't see him getting anywhere near breaking Federer.
Tomic will be lucky to grab a tiebreak set. I say Fed in 3 reasonably close sets, with at least one tiebreak. Think Fed will Sampras it in - get the break and then just cruise.
Haven't really been following tennis over the last few weeks, just found out that Tomic beat Djokovic. How did Novak allow that to happen?? Some sort of East European camaraderie - giving him a win to boost his confidence? No wonder Tomic has been mouthing off so much...
For those that are not to familiar, this is what the NardDog listens to in the locker room before he goes out on court to systematically dismantle his opponents:
I urge any MTF posters that might be attending this match to sing the chorus of this song with the Fanatics on Saturday night. B-Nard will notice and you will be rewarded in due course...
If Tomic manages to take a set off Federer, he will have done well.
Tomic has improved his game and his attitude in the last few months. He's no intellect and has no iea how to present himself to the media, but I don't totally hate him any longer.
I'm optimistic, so I'll say Federer in 4 sets
No intellect? I hate Tomic but he has one of the best tennis brains on Tour. Most of his game is pretty average, he consistently beats guys with bigger games by playing smart.
Bernito is too strong. Way too strong. Unbeaten in 2013. Routed the best player in the world a few weeks back. This is only Fed's 3rd match since the WTF. An impossible task lies ahead.
Hmm Tomic managed to win 8 games last year. I haven't seem any signs it will be better this year but i am willing to be surprised. I don't believe he can win more than a set though, yes he has improved but that is still Fed on the other side of the net.
But actually I was quite impressed by some of Tomic's game against Brands. He served well, and I liked his improvisational skills.
If this was round four, then no problem for Federer. But it's a match earlier, and Federer has come into this tournament "cold", without any competitive matches in January. So this might give Tomic more of a chance. Added to that, Tomic is really confident at the moment (and I don't think there's anything wrong with showing this confidence in press conferences), seemingly relaxed, and will no doubt have some boisterous support from the crowd.
Same here my man Fed still has it in him to win another GS title
