Yeah. He played like it too, as if he was kinda shocked this guy ranked 120 that's never done anything can play like this.

Step change in Brands' level this season though. That huge game has been obvious for at least 3-4 years now, just needed to find the ways to translate it into results.

Awesome stuff. Props to Brands. Great fight 'til the end.
I used to 'hate' Tomic, but he has grown on me.
Clearly matured, and is really exciting to watch.

Not a very clean match.

Plenty of one-two exchanges from either player. Tomic had a hard time dealing with Brands' big serving and first-strike style of tennis, but kept it together pretty convincingly on his own serve. He had plenty of his own aces against the German's poor return, played slices to his backhand to neutralize his power, and, in turn, took initiative with his forehand when he needed to.

The real mess came on the big points, though. Plenty of routine shots hit erroneously by either player. Brands choked away plenty of big points. Tomic almost equally so, but he managed to hold it together better at the end of the last few sets.

Hilarious listening to this kid in interviews. He said something like "just like you saw today guys can play amazing on their day, give credit to the player Daniels Brands!" Tomic making it sound like he's a legend of the game who just played someone out of nowhere. In Tomic's mind he's on Federers's level when in reality he's much closer to Brands than he is Federer.

Really? That seems highly unlikely. How can you possibly hope to predict the game score? And Daveydanko isn't all that good at holding his serve.

Bernie will have to step up a few levels in his next match. Made some silly errors, was never really in control. Brands played well, actually they both served pretty well. Just glad Bernie got the win. Love his interviews too

Bernie has served 37 times in the tournament and has held serve all 37 times.

Can't let go of the context, though. He's had just two opponents. I didn't see his first match, but Brands isn't exactly a world-beater with his return. Tomic got away with a lot.

Just gave Brands a set so he can have match practice before Fed. Too good this Bernard.

Extremely comfortable from B-Nard. Now lets see if Rogi can make it into the 3rd round...

he was never broken. only gave 1 break point shows how much bnard's serve has improved. also 75% first serve ratio. federer will find a very tough match if he gets that far! the win against djoker in hopman cup is no fluke! this guy has arrived

Tomic is an arrogant spoiled brat I hope that Fed will give him some free tennis lessons again

Tomic holds 76 service games in a row: 12-Nieminen, 11-Seppi, 16-Anderson, 13-Mayer, 24-Brands.

It means when he is broken by Fed, it will be probably repeated in the same set.

This is how these streaks work.
