Yes, you're fairly new to this board so you're not familiar with it.

SINCE THERE'S NO TENNIS ACTION I WENT FOR TONGUE ACTION

And the biggest ass kick of the year (over Roger) went to Nadal! Woohoo! I don't care if Roger played with his left hand and was foaming at the mouth, it was still an ass kick

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

Quite true Rebecca, but without wanting to labour the point, I think a 100% healthy Federer would have gotten to deuce on Nadal's mighty serve at least once. But Nadal did play a very good match tactically, he worked his lefty forehand high to the Federer backhand and got due reward. And Federer had no physical complaints against Kuerten at RG and in that match, after breaking Guga's opening service game, he didn't have a single breakpoint in the rest of the match.

It's interesting to note that apart from Nadal and Berdych, the players who have beaten Federer in 2004 are all experienced veterans (which explains in part Federer's unblemished record against the Top 10, because most of them are his contemporaries and therefore lack some experience and knowledge about how to play him). Costa and Kuerten are former RG champions who are simply superior claycourt players and both outclassed him on the backhand side, while I thought Hrbaty's was probably the luckiest victory out of these four because he played a rather average match but hung tough and squeezed out the deciding set. Of course, the intriguing thing is that Federer has no invincible aura as far as the Dominator is concerned, he said it himself after the match - he still thinks of Roger as the kid he grew up with in juniors larking around on court, not the world no. 1. The same can't be said of most of Federer's rivals.

I should also point out that Henman was virtually Top 10 when he beat Federer in Rotterdam, I think he was ranked about 11 at that time. Trivia question: who is the one man to have beaten both Federer and Roddick this year?

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.
