People need use their brain more instead of dismissing everything due to the fact they were exhibition matches. They mean little for the players he beat but for Hewitt himself it'll be a significant confidence boost - especially since he appears to be fit. Hewitt returned extremely well, made barely any random UEs and was striking the backhand down the line crisply. These are all key form indicators for him so for Hewitt and his team it's a pretty big deal. Obviously he's not going to win next week but there are signs he could beat Tipsaravaric and go on to have a solid AO campaign.
Exactly, people are really missing the point here.. it's not so much about how his competitors were, it's about how well Hewitt played - his shot-making, his speed around the court (due to actually being physically fit for once) and just general demeanor. He seemed rejuvenated, confident and solid... something we have not seen from Rusty for a long time.
So in that respect it is certainly a sign of his return. Early to call I know, but fingers crossed!
