Australian Open QR2: [8] Serra def. [WC] Bolt 6-4 5-7 8-6

Very good from the young Aussie to push this deep into the third set, but the veteran Frenchman came through. Bolt had a lot more winners and a lot more errors than Serra, and eventually his inconsistency, as well as a 37% first serve percentage in the third set, proved to be his downfall.

Still a lot of positives to take away from this week.

Good to see Serra winning a match. I hope he qualifies here.

Badluck Bolty, he's gonna be top 150 by the end of the year so this was just one match showing his potential!

I'm so devastated about this result. If Bolt won he would've been a big shot to qualify and take his status to the next level. He's kind of been in the shadows of other Aussie juniors around his age (Duckworth, Tomic, Mitchell, Kubler, Saville) and so it would nice for him to make a really big step like that.

Yeah he has been in their shadows, funny thing is he has beaten Duckworth, Mitchell and Saville and he hasnt knocked over Kubler or Tomic but he is yet to play either of them! I think a run at our second challenger event in three weeks at West Lakes in Adelaide and at Burnie the week before and he will finally gain the respect he deserves.

I was thinking the same thing. Those Challengers could propel him into the Challenger circuit for most of the year as he doesn't have many points to defend at all until September.

Serra might actually fail to qualify for a Slam
