Re: Dimitrov or Tomic?

Tomic-he has better defensive skills, much better backhand slice, has more variety in the game.Dimitrov on other side is overrated, weak backhand, average forehand and serve.

I think that it can also be that he is unconsciously copying Federer.

Re: Dimitrov or Tomic?

really tough question you have to think gauging by things currently that Tomic seems more likely to achieve success SOONER but at the same time maybe that Dimitrov seems to have more potential. will be interesting to see in the future, these are some of the few younger players that actually hold strong interest

<3 Roger Federer <3 David Ferrer <3 Juan Martin Del Potro <3 Ernest Gulbis <3

------------------------ <3 Richard Gasquet <3

Rafael Nadal

I think he did clearly imitate Fed when he was an adolescent : the similarity is so big, and I had read an article with more details suggesting that as well. He was 13 years old when Fed started winning everything, it's young enough to be a growing-up referrence.

In the last years, as a mature player, he's obviously had to work on his own peculiarities rather than "imitating".

useless old guy

Re: Dimitrov or Tomic?

Neither have shown that they are there yet. And while they each have most of the raw ingredients, it is possible the either or both may never arrive. Tomic last year showed how bad he can be, despite short demonstrations of how good he can be. For both, in different ways, it is whether they can build the mentality that is not yet there. Even for Federer, developing the mentality came later than the raw ability.

Both still have their futures to write.

Re: Dimitrov or Tomic?

I think the question here is only tennis related, so I dont understand some answers here. And its funny how all people forgot the judge incident back in 2011 with Grisha.

Anyway, I must admit I am biased, but Tomic got way more potential and weapons to hurt top players. Also in Mental strenght level. The problem is when i dont gives a shit, but Im hoping his slump in last half of last year was an eye opener to him. If he does, he can reach again a QF this year, and win a slam in about 2 yeas time, when the top 4 will start to decline, and he will be on the top of his game.

Dimitrov maybe will reach top 10, but thats all. He will get slaughtered buy guys like Goffin, Tomic, Raonic and in a more distant future, Quinzi.

Proud fan of:

Sporting Clube de Portugal, Fútbol Club Barcelona, Newcastle United Football Club, FK Vilniaus Žalgiris

On the other hand, Tomic has a huge confidence. He thinks he can do anything and can be the best player of all time. He expressed the latter thing publicly which was not good. Having confidence doesn't do anything good without having the capability of using it.

Comparing their current condition to other great players at their age, neither of them has the capability to win a slam, let alone more than one. But they still have time to improve their games and be good players. We need good young players right now. We'll see what they'll do. We just have to wait.

Wasn't Tomic 8 years of age when he made that statement.
Who knows how the careers of these tow young men will pan out, injury can put an end to the best of careers.
If Tomic's current form and attitude continue, he should go from strength to strength.

This is the million dollar question, isn't it?

I think tennis is very interesting right now, in that we wait with baited breath the next youngster to come through and really challenge, then join, the elite. (As Murray, Djokovic and, to a lesser extent, Del Potro have done these past five years.)

Impossible to say, but obviously those three will be strong contenders for majors while Tomic and Dimitrov are entering their prime years.

I would also place Raonic above them - he's been more consistent so far. Goffin, who I have admittedly seen little of, looks another contender in the future, though I doubt he'll ever be top two material.

Other than that, I imagine players as of yet under the radar for being too young will step up and overtake Tomic and Dimitrov.

He said that last month... about 28 days ago. Surely he wasn't 8 years old that time. Here is the link.

Well, maybe the organizers will postpone the GS tournaments for a few years because of a huge lack of players with the ability to win a Slam.

Just kidding....
