Yas

Someone must have finally put some sense into him.

He also must have realized that his beloved country Argentina would actually be better served by him fully concentrating on his individual career and (at least for the time being) exclusively focusing on launching an all out assault on the placeholders temporarily ranked above him.

Re: Del Potro decided not to play Davis Cup in 2013

The drama between Del Potro and DC Captain Martin Jaite is a replay of the drama between Nalbandian and former DC Captain Tito Vazquez. It's the same story with different cast members.

I think Gabriela Sabatini should take over as Argentina's DC captain. She could take care of these guys. If Nalbandian acts out, Sabatini will punch his face and starve him for a week. If Del Potro acts out, she'll give him a death stare to put him in his place. She would then give hairstyling tips to Charly Berlocq, after which she will sub in for him in doubles to win the trophy for Argentina

I was actually hoping Nalbandian would win Davis Cup next year. With delPo out of Davis Cup, this will suck for Nalby

Good thing Argentina does not have their own Wawrinka, otherwise he'd go to the media and berate and insult Delpo.

Re: Del Potro decided not to play Davis Cup in 2013

When push comes to shove, there isn't any top player who doesn't consider his own individual carreer a lot more important than any DC title and rightly so. Them yapping about the DC being so important to them do so mainly because of PR-reasons.

JMDP has had a very good 2012 and perhaps realizes he's lost some chances at doing even better because of some DC-matches he perhaps shouldn't have played at all. I feel the guy is still on his way up and perhaps considers the upcoming season the ultimate opportunity to make it into the top four. Can't blame him for this decision.

Let's not fool ourselves, Ponyboy does want to win the Davis Cup but without Fatbaldian in the team, otherwise all the credits will be for Fat Dave as he seems to represent the kind of player who prioritizes the team competitions before the regular ATP tournaments according to himself, the media and fans.

It's always been like that with the Argentines: ever since the days of Guillermo Vilas and Jose Luis Clerc. They've never managed to have a unified team making the right decisions for the team and for its members individually. The egos always get in the way... Such a pity.

Seems like the Argentine media often berate and insult Delpo all on their own.
