have you ever seen someone play better than Safin US Open 2000?

check out these highlights ::::

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msmelVjUAgY

they are absolutely insane, he was playing lightening tennis, best passing shots I've ever seen, bulleting every ball he got his racket on, serving sublimely, absolutely annihilated Sampras's biggest weapons, his serve and volleying...

have you ever seen a player play on big match with as much talent as Safin showed this day? I'm thinking of some Nalbandian, Agassi, Federer matches, but I just don't know if any reached this level. is Marat Safin @ 2000 US Open practically the max best someone can play?
thoughts?

<3 Roger Federer <3 David Ferrer <3 Juan Martin Del Potro <3 Ernest Gulbis <3

------------------------ <3 Richard Gasquet <3

Rafael Nadal

Amazing indeed. Seeing Nadal on clay in his absolute peak might come close.

I thought, from what I read constantly on MTF, that every player in Roger's era was a mug hence he was able to win all those slams.

You could also have chosen a peak Sampras match and asked the same question...or Nadal or Federer etc

Re: have you ever seen someone play better than Safin US Open 2000?

FedEx at Wimbledon 2003,very close
Nole at AO 2008,very close
Rafa at RG 2008,closest I think...

If You try to find this kind of level in particulare match, well then:

Tsonga nadal AO 2008
Gonzo haas AO 2007
NOLE monfils Montreal 2011
FedEx Hewitt US 2004 (Was it 2004?)
Soderling rafa RG 2009...

My memories are fresh from these matches...

If God came down to Earth and was given a tennis racquet fr one day - that's how he would have played Safin at his best would have bent Federer over and shafted him to death. Fact.

Rosol in that famous fifth set is the best ball bashing I've ever seen.

Probably one of the only rare ballbashers that had a full package game (ie. wasn't brainless, gamewise, so to speak). I miss him
