Who will be the next non-Big Four GS finalist and when?

The last time we had a GS finalist outside of the Big Four was Berdych in 2010 Wimbledon, the nine slams after it have had only Big Four players in the final. But who will be the next non-Big Four GS finalist and when?

I'd say it'll be DelPo next year at AO, USO, or maybe even at RG. And if Tsonga could play his best tennis, he could reach the Wimbledon final. But draws affect much to this. Should the DelPo have Fed and Rafa in his half in AO instead of Nole and Muzz, I think he'd have a great chance to get to final. And that applies to Berdych too. Rafa is vulnerable after his break and DelPo as well as Berdy aren't afraid of Roger.

Del Potro, 24 years old next year, is a good choice. Anywhere but Wimbledon.

As everyone said, Del Potro. In RG or the USO would be my choice. With a good draw at the AO maybe.

Del Potro at RG 2013, assuming he avoids Nadal.

Re: Who will be the next non-Big Four GS finalist and when?

definitely delpo, probably at RG as well

federer and djokovic have already proven themselves useless at stopping dull, that challenge now lies with del potro, with delpo's height dull can moonball all he likes but that ball will just get bashed back to him at double the speed, I'd love to see how dull handles that, his primitive tennis will be exposed for all to see

Re: Who will be the next non-Big Four GS finalist and when?

Agree with other posters, Delpo is No.1 candidate for slam final, but i honestly think it won´t be in 2013.

His best chance would be at RG with good draw, but his chances in QF vs big 4 are like this

vs Andy - clear favorite
vs Roger - 50-50 match
vs Nole - underdog
vs Rafa - clear underdog

so if he beats someone there is still another one in SF.. - even Ferrer can take him down at RG in SF - if Ferrer beats Murray in QF.

At AO - i don´t like his chances vs big 4 at the beginning of the season when all are fresh and full of energy + his stamina on slow HC in heat - his draw must be joke if he makes F alredy in Melbourne

Wimbledon - no way

USO - 2nd best chance after RG, but everyone can play good at HC - no matter how fast or slow USO will be , Nole-Andy would be favorites vs him, even Rafa can be tough and well Roger still can beat him at HC too.

Re: Who will be the next non-Big Four GS finalist and when?

Raonic, definitely. Del Potro is a choker of the worst kind, he plays well only in MM events. Look at RG, olympics, Australian open, etc etc. This guy wont ever win a slam other than his only slam in USOpen 2009.

Same with Ferrer, Berdych, and Tsonga. Berdych is a choker, the other 2 arent good enough in my opinion.

Raonic at Wimbledon!!!! more realistically Del Potro, but for fun I still would go with Miloas

<3 Roger Federer <3 David Ferrer <3 Juan Martin Del Potro <3 Ernest Gulbis <3

------------------------ <3 Richard Gasquet <3

Rafael Nadal

I have to disagree, if in the latter stages Del Potro meets Murray in RG, I think Murray will clinch it, Delpo will fold. He is the underdog against Federer too. When Federer started to play (not even play well) in RG 2012, the match was over, Del Potro couldnt move.

The chance he will get is in the USOpen, provided he has a good draw. Basically, he is a good hard court player, nothing more than that, I dont understand how people choose to ignore the fact that he isnt good enough on slow courts...
