Davis Cup F: Berdych def. Almagro 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-7(5) 6-3 (CZE: ESP 1-1)

The weak link played a very good match and this is what Davis Cup is about. Berdych not at his best, but towards the end of the match was the more aggressive. Loved how it took ages for the apology off the letcord in the game Almagro broke back in the 5th set.

Too bad the DC final is held in a library.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Looks like Berdych has been watching some Agnieszka Radwanska videos.

Vamos Spanish doubles team!

To call that 5th set pathetic is very generous, especially from Almagro, who had thousands of chances to hold both times he was broken.
Damn it, I realllly wanted Almagro to get revenged, but he's still a choker at heart

I really wish someone would break a fucking racquet... anyone, any event

Almagro should have won this. He had it in the fifth but once again he choked in the last set.
Still a great match overall and great effort

Important win for the Czechs, still with Almagro's playing, the Czechs must win this tie in the 4th rubber. Hopefully three rubbers isn't too much for Berdych.

great match by nico. again, he should be taking care of sexy.

ASI Director-General Gautam Sengupta said the list of India's treasures held abroad was "too long to handle" and there was a need for a "diplomatic and legal campaign" for their restitution from institutions, including the British Museum, the Royal Collection and the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.

Yesssss

Hope the Czechs win. Would be epic if Stepanek clinched it in the fifth.

Only Del Potro can take him out before the semis, and he won't. Nadal is winning the AO, bet your house on it.
Somewhere out there, there is a homeless person who once took betting advice from GSMnadal

I think Nico did amazing despite losing. it sucks he lost, he fought so hard.

But why did tomas have to celebrate as if he won the whole tournament?! good grief, he needs to grow up.

The handshake was very warm at the end. Berdych was moving like Ivo Karlovic out there, not sure if it was because of nerves or he was talking a big game and not delivering.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Almagro is a fighter and deserves credit.

1-1 is perfect after the first day. 2-2 after 4 rubbers I hope. Spain need Rosolizing in the 5th.

Shame he is such a mental midget. Nico has shown today he has weapons (and heart) to beat anyone, even in indoors hardcourts

Re: Davis Cup F: Berdych def. Almagro 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-7(5) 6-3 (CZE: ESP 1-1)

Very good match, congrats Berdych for being very solid, esp. on serve and return, congrats Nico for winning more % points on return than your opponent (33% to 32%)
and also making more winners (64 to 52, including 38 forehands and backhands to 28 for Berdych) ... as I often say, Berdych's defense and few unforced errors have become as important as his power, he's not at all the very offensive guy like Tsonga.

in the beginning of 5th set, Almagroi looked fitter and Berdych held by his serve, but then it seemed to change, Almagro making many errors in the first break he lost and giving hope back to Berdych. He broke back but Berdych had the final acceleration.

4 hours ... it will be tough in next days for Berdych who already didn't look very fresh during the match.

useless old guy

yeah let's just forget that Berdych had it won in 4th already. He was one missed shot from 4-1 in that set. 5th set he was clearly the better player. Almagro doesn't choke when Berdych unloads heavy forehand winners.

Choking is when you are in the lead (which Almagro never was in the 5th) and then give it away.
