Seppi vs Wawrinka, Rome.

That was an actual high quality match with real drama and unpredictability. But because most people here only care about 6 players or so, I don't expect people to even remember that match.

Added/edited it in now

Generally a poor tournament imo, especially in the late stages, Ferrer vs Tipsarevic gets the nod for best match all things considered.

Praising anything that Ferrer was involved in was like a dagger to his heart.

Forgetting something lenders?

I can do this:
AO: Nadal-Djokovic just for the drama Nadal-Berdych was good I guess

RG: Djokovic-Tsonga

W: Rosol-Nadal

OGs: Djokovic-Hewitt

USO: Ferrer-Tipsarevic

WTF: Djokovic-Federer

Damn, I sound too bias, I'll change AO

Djokovic | Tipsarevic | Querrey

Ferrer has been involved in some good matches at the US Open

Nishikori vs Ferrer was the best match of USO 2008 imo, and Verdasco vs Ferrer USO 2010 (maybe along with the final).

Good choices

Djokovic vs Hewitt was only good before Lleyton completely ran out of gas though.

Re: 2012 Match Of The Year

I would have to say Djokovic def. Tsonga at Roland Garros overall. Incredible play from Tsonga and an exhibitions of Djokovic's unbelievable mental strength.

Typically, Grand Slam matches always get the nod over three setters. If I were to pick a three set match though, it would be Isner's win over Djokovic. Very high standard from both players and especially in the big moments.

I was also very impressed by the quality of Nadal - Berdych at the Australian Open. Probably the best baseline performance of Nadal I've ever seen on a hard court (he served better US Open 2010), Berdych played at his best for much of the match but Nadal was incredible.

Rosol's victory over Nadal was crazy. Hard to call it match of the year, but the final set was almost miraculous from Rosol. He won five service games after getting the break and those 20 points were won by 1 BH winner, 8 FH winners, 1 Unreturnable Serve, 1 UE, 1 Smash winner, 1 Volley winner, and 7 Aces. It's true, Rosol wasn't unplayable for 5 straight sets, but he sure was unbreakable in that fifth set.

Champions deserve whatever they win playing within the laws of the game

It's funny both because you said it (knowing your vulture ways) and that I agree.

Re: 2012 Match Of The Year

The best matches are the matches on the outside courts people don't see or the matches between two guys like Wawrinka and Seppi who are similarly ranked but not top 10. The matches between two top guys are virtually always boring and predictable.

Re: 2012 Match Of The Year

Del Potro vs Djokovic was the best match of the US Open. Ferrer vs Tipsarevic was good mainly for the drama but the level of play in Del Potro vs Djokovic was crazy, the fact that Del Potro played well and didn't even have a set to show for that just makes it even crazier.

I don't know what Mark Lenders is on about, someone must have paid him to have chosen Ferrer vs Tipsarevic, or maybe he's just drunk or something.

Berdych | Murray | Tsonga | Monfils | Raonic | Soderling
