From what I saw of the match, it was horrible, and most points were ended in a mistake. This WTF is going to be full of terrible matches.

The most expected result in history with frankly a slight over achievement from Tbird getting a set and making it a very tight affair.

To have this result against the man of the hour on a goof surface for him, on his home ground - kudos, good achievement.

And this set actually gives him some chances, as we might all assume and never question the verdict that Djokovic tanked Paris, but he might be tired and out of form, we've seen him having awful results at the WTF, so it's far from a clear group just yet.

Re: London RR: Murray routines useless Berdych 3-6 6-3 6-4

lol Murray is a disgrace to tennis because of his attitude? LOL Most tennis player swear in frustration , they smash rackets and all that it's part of the game. and if you don't like then tough. stop moaning.

anyway I thought Berdych played quite well in the first set. Muzz had so many BP's haha. Berdych played poorly in the 2nd and 3rd sets Andy played better. Well done Andy on a terrific victory. Go all the way

Andy Murray ---- 2 time grand slam champion. Your argument is invalid.

It's amazing he can post, would think his wrists would have a serious RSI by now at 5 a day.

I rather like Murray displaying his emotions...even negative ones. I don't want to see soulless robots on court. I don't wish to see two angelic gentlemen competitors either. Like many I suspect, I enjoy seeing a bit of the devil on display in the players I support. It's only human after all.

Andy really does seem to have a winning mentality these days. That Olympic win really did launch phase 2 of his career.

2013 should be a great year for him.

I don't think taking a set was an overreach on Berdych's part. He routinely plays Murray very well, and the Scot can be prone to slow starts. If this match were played out on a slower surface, he probably would have made good on a few more of those attempted winners.

I can't really see that set making the difference unless Tsonga pulls off something miraculous. In his current form, he would need as much to pull off an upset.

Good post by Drusilla, I agree. As for people banding about words like 'disgrace' because he swears at himself, get a grip. There are real problems in this world, and so people getting all uppity about swearing is frankly laughable. It's not 1952, wake up. And tennis players conduct themselves very well compared to most sports professionals, so appreciate that rather than being miserable fuckers all your lives.

Spot on.

It's just their way of coping with the loss, after all they can't blame the wind this time.. Can't go on about pushing either since he had more winners than Berd Bad day for the fans of the second rate players.

Murray was playing at a mediocre level and Berdych still needed God-like ability to save break points in order to win a set. Slamray wakes up; outclasses him. Well done, champ.

You're probably right, yet Murray was a big favorite for this match and it happened to be tighter than the odds overall.

About the miraculous performances - if there are a couple places to expect such - Paris and WTF would be the places.

Actually WTF is the place to expect miraculously bad displays and that's why i personally couldn't exclude any of these guys yet.

a 1-2 loss in the first match could be a ticket home, but if you live in Spain...if you know what i mean

i wouldn't go as far as saying he's a disgrace to tennis for it, But his on court attitude sucks.

There's getting frustrated when your losing, and want to win. Then there is Murray, who goes off on one when he makes 1 error. He was winning, he was in control, and it was on Berdych's serve yet he still had to have a little moan because he made an error.

I don't mind frustration being shown when needs be. But Murray is always moaning or holding a body part.

Expect Berdych to lose to Djokovic and be preparing for Davis Cup by weekend.

The current greatness league of active players in order of achievements to date (a factual comparison rather than fan biased assessment):

Federer 17 GS, 6 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.
Nadal 14 GS, 27 Master Series, 1 Olympic Gold.
Djokovic 9 GS, 4 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.
