That makes no sense. Couldn't be 10-8 in a tiebreak because they didn't have breakers back then.

Probably meant to be 10-8 or had they already switched to tiebreakers by then. I always forget when that switch happened.

When the tiebreak was initially introduced, it occurred at 8-8, not 6-6. This was still the case as late as 1977, it seems.

So, it is indeed correct, 9-8 is just the equivalent of 7-6.
