Re: WWW WTF RR: Ferrer - Del Potro

I like both players so I have quite neutral attitude about this match. Peak DelPo, seen in 2009, is definitly better than peak Ferru, seen this year. But another thing is how well Ferrer and especially DelPo are playing right now. This year's peak DelPo, seen e.g. in the Olympics, is clearly better than this year's peak Ferrer. But this year's average Ferrer has been better than this year's average DelPo. In this 1st match, playing Paris final probably doesn't affect too much on Ferru. So he'll probably play at least his average tennis. So, DelPo needs to play very well to beat Ferru, average playing isn't enough. And the london court hasn't been very fast, that suits Ferrer. So I say Ferru will win quite clearly, but not in a dominating way.

My only regret, is reading this *dead*

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Great tip to stay fit and mobile: If you run up and down the stairs two steps at a time at least once daily, there will never come a time when you can't do it. Until of course one day you mistime a step, collapse and break all your bones... That would suck. But you had a good run.

not a bad starter to the day, but del potro's slaughter of ferrer is the perfect main course to finish off at night

Re: WWW WTF RR: Ferrer - Del Potro

People are in here talking about Del Potro actually winning this? If there was more of a foregone conclusion than Ferrer beating Del Potro in any given match, then I haven't seen it.

Federer beating Ferrer or, previously, Roddick perhaps?

Re: WWW WTF RR: Ferrer - Del Potro

Ferru will be absolutely tired: he's the only player in the WF to have played 2 full weeks immediately before the tournament. He won Valencia, he'll probably win Paris tomorrow. That's 11 matches in 2 weeks.

I know he's very fit, but there's a limit.

So I have to go with Delpo here.

Re: WWW WTF RR: Ferrer - Del Potro

Ferrer to obliterate Del Bashtro. He has much better defense, RoS, backhand and mental strength. Del Bashtro has that ballbashing forehand, but that will not be enough to overcome the grinding machine known as Pics. Mark Lenders would do well to stock up on plenty of alcohol before tha match and not of the fairy variety like wine and alcopops, but the stronger stuff that will allow him to cope with his idol's humiliation
