Re: janowicz will reach the second week of a grand slam

I think he will, but most definitely not next year. He needs to take the next big step, which is avoid the top 8 seeds until the quarterfinals. When he is seeded 25-32, he is very unlikely to progress further than Round 3.

Where will he do it? He can play decently on clay I think, his dropshots will be working on grass courts. For some reason I think that his peak results will come in the USOpen, and worst in the Australian Open.

yes, he is yet to show that he can beat top players back-to-back-to-back-to-back. Oh wait!

Thats what Im thinking because Janowicz seems to play better on faster courts. The USOpen courts are historically known to be fast low bouncing courts, and with a suitable serve Janowicz can do massive damage.

The Australian Open courts are slow and higher bouncing, which undoubtedly will hurt the tall guy the most. He will be unable to serve and return nearly as well as he does on faster courts.

He will be a decent grass player, but I cant see him being anything special. His volley skills arent that good.

Not sure how he will be in the clay season. Theoretically he should be fine, but he might get crushed by any good clay courter.

fair points, however i don't agree that he needs to avoid everyone

remember, R4 is the second week also. i deliberately worded it that way, because it would still be a good achievement

clay suits his drop shots, but would weaken his serve, no?

why did you pick the us open? (arthur ashe, blue clay, slow these days etc?)

Paris isnt lightning fast as it used to be (even a year ago, let alone 2 years ago), and he seems to be doing fine, which seems to indicate that he is doing well on average-fast courts. I think that if you would put him on real fast courts, such as Rotterdam, he wouldnt be nearly as good. His return of serve isnt THAT good, believe it or not.

Its hard to explain, but I just dont think he is suited for Wimbledon. Sure, Nole isnt suited for Wimbledon either and he won it, but Janowicz doesnt have the suitable groundstrokes to be a top grass court player.

USOpen is blue clay as of late, but its still the fastest grand slam in my opinion, which is why I went with it.

Lot's of guys (out of Top 4) are winning Masters all the time as we know, so they are too good for winning this one! It's better to tank for a competition the can be only winned by Fed, Nole or Mugray... Or in some cases, that you're not even going to show up.

To be fair, I think that Del Potro did tank to be honest. He wouldnt lose to Llodra in straights if it were a grand slam.

Simon, Berdych, Tsonga, and Tipsarevic are just losers, especially Tipsarevic.

Nah, a tall guy can do well on clay since the surface is even slower than hard court. This will allow him to return better than on slow courts. If I didnt explain myself nicely it doesnt mean that Im contradicting myself

You said that the slow surface and the high bounce at the AO will undoubtedly hurt Janowicz.

But for some reason on clay which is slower and higher bouncing he'll do good on it??

P.S. High bounces help tall players, so your whole argument is incorrect.
