Re: Rank the 'clutch gene' of the top 10

I need to know exactly what you mean by 'clutchness'.

There is the ability to perform under pressure in huge points (bps/mps down, tie breaks). In this case:

1/2.Nadal
1/2.Djokovic
3.Federer
4.Ferrer
5.Murray
6.Del Potro
7.Tsonga
8.Berdych
9.Tipsarevic
10.Monaco

And then there another factor: The ability of a player to play his best tennis from the start of the match, even under pressure/high expectations. In this department:

1.Ferrer
2/3.Federer
2/3.Nadal
4.Djokovic
5.Murray
6.Del Potro
7.Tsonga
8.Monaco
9.Tipsarevic
10.Berdych

*Note that both rankings refer to the current situation of things. If we were talking about each player's peak, Nadal would be standing alone at the top of the first ranking, and Federer at the top of the second.

ROGER FEDERER

'Roger Federer is the best ever' - Everyone else other than John McEnroe*

*Not anymore...

4 AO - 1 RG - 7 W - 5 USO

Re: Rank the 'clutch gene' of the top 10

Murray is very clutch. Not the clutchest but easily in the top 4 and anyone who has him any lower is a short-term memory clown. Look at his US open run this year, he won something like 8 tie-breaks out of eight. He has lost a little clutchness over the last couple of months but he'll regain it.

I just said that he is one of the top 4 most clutch players. I think that is fair enough?

Yeah thats fine, doesn't make your opinion correct though. Murrays second serve is too bad for him to be considered a top clutch player, regularly it breaks down and loses so much speed, becomes an easy target bp down.

Re: Rank the 'clutch gene' of the top 10

Did Nadal ever come up with a winner/risky shot at mp? I don't think so. Nadal's game is based on safe moonballing, so naturally his tennis is less error prone than others.
Federer represents a completely different gamestyle thus makes more errors even on big points.
How you can expect Nadal to mishit if his ball placement and net clearance is rather laughable for a player of this sort?

Re: Rank the 'clutch gene' of the top 10

you guys cloud your bains with 1 - 1/2 seasons. Djokovic was the most clutch player in 2011 by far but any other season ehhh. not even in 2012 is he more clutch than the other top guys....

career wise Nadal and Sampras = insanely strong mentally and handling the big points. it's Nadal/Sampras //////// the likes of Fed Express/ Djokovic ////

Nadal throughout every season pretty much besides 2011 was insanely clutch. Djokovic wsa not very clutch in the majority of his playing years thus far...

irrelevant points, how clutch you are on big points does not relate to how you win, but just the nature of winning them at all...
