I always say that Söderling and Del Potro on one side are very different players from Berdych : they rather have a consistent power rather than accelerations, and they create their own pace, Berdych needs more rhythm to play well.

Re: Paris QF: Simon def. Berdych 6-4, 6-4

this court (like the WTF one) has a low and soft bounce : it's good for servers but also good for Simon.

And not really good for Berdych, esp. against Simon.

Great win for the simple one. Maybe a masters title for the Fedal killa.

Re: Paris QF: Simon def. Berdych 6-4, 6-4

Simon played exceptionally well, remained at a high level for the vast majority of the match. Berdych had a short purple patch in which it looked like he would at least grab the second set but once he had the drop in level he didn't have the intensity to stay in the match. Very impressed with the length from Simon, tough to beat him when he's playing like that (although it's not my favourite to watch).

Champions deserve whatever they win playing within the laws of the game

Birdy has the most sensitive self-destruct button in tennis.

Berdych isn't intelligent enough to tank anyway.

Simonīs style is tough math-up for Berdych and he canīt hit through him on this court - to slow court for Tomas to hit through him - not saying slow HC overall, but slow for him vs Simon? what do you here donīt understand?

Yes Simon canīt hit ace on outdoor slow HC, clay and definitely not on grass right? his 1st serve have good placement, thatīs it Berdych should have done more just get those serves back, those unreturnalbes from Simon were returnables for sure - at lest some of them.
I don't even know what you are saying. Of course Simon can hit an ace on grass, he uses the court speed (FAST) and his superior place to get aces/unreturnables, just like he did on this fast indoor court.

I agree with the sentiment that a player like Berdych would never tank with such a good opportunity to win an event of this calibre.
I have to laugh at Mugray fans who think pushing is a tactic all of a sudden. Murray won his slam trying to play attacking tennis and succeeding more often than not. His pushing would not have won him a slam.

Simon is a very difficult for Del Po too though looking at their history, lots of close matches 3-2 for del po.

It doesn't help that his game and his personality have the same temperament.

Well done to Simon, some performance.

Won't lie and say I'm not disappointed, but yeah at least he'll get a few days rest for London. Only going to the WTFs on Monday too so for my selfish reasons at least there's a chance I might see him now.

All you need to breakdown Berdych is run down his shots and get everything back, he will breakdown before or later. He can only beat 30+ Federer because he has lost one step on his defense department.

All things are subject to interpretation whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.
