Best shots/points of 2012

Post your favourite shots, or rallies of 2012. Video's would be nice, but if you can't find one, just mention it.

I'll start us off with a recent one.

Re: Best shots/points of 2012

Richard Gasquet hit the best shot of the year in the Olympic doubles semi-final against Ferrer/Lopez (or was it the bronze match?) but there are no videos of it online.

Backhand overhead dtl passing shot winner from a metre behind the baseline.

Gasquet also hit an amazing around the net shot against Klahn at the US Open this year

i can hardly even imagine how you'd do that?

Had the adversaries already stopped playing? Like with their backs turned to the net?

You can hardly make a passing shot from BH overhead when at the T, what to say from 1m behind the baseline

Re: Best shots/points of 2012

Maybe my memory has exaggerated it but I'm pretty sure it's as I described. I've never seen anything like it. I think it was even on set point.

Can't find the match online at all

Re: Best shots/points of 2012

This is the shot of Gasquet. Similar to a backhand overhead pass he hit against Nadal in the 2007 Masters Cup (actually that one was perhaps even more impressive). I've never seen anyone else do it, so it's impressive that Gasquet proved it's not a fluke.

Do you remember at what time in the match it occurred? I think full replays of the olympics matches are still available on the NBC Olympics website.

Re: Best shots/points of 2012

good work stebs.

I think the one against the Spanish is even better because he has to generate all the power himself with his bodyweight going in the opposite direction.

He hits it from about two metres behind the baseline and when he lands he's more like three metres back. Incredible to be able to generate that kind of power with just the arm.

Re: Best shots/points of 2012

A couple of good points from important Grand Slam matches:

Surely not the most entertaining rally of the year without trickshots or impossible gets. However, one of the most impressive rallies of the year in my mind is certainly this epitome of the baseline game between Djokovic and Murray. Massive moment, massive point, ebb and flow, and of course, the mental strength of the Serbian shining through. Point beginning at 11:45 in this video

Nadal played a quite absurdly good match against (the admittedly disappointing) Ferrer in the RG semi-final. There were a few outrageous shots but the point starting at 10:00 is probably just about the pick of the bunch, outrageous court speed, defence and trademark forehand pass to finish.
