Match Wins By Winner or Opponent Error

This a stupid statistic but an interesting one. Do you think how a majority of a player's matches end reflect their mindset and gamestyle.

Who wins the greatest % of their matches with a winner?
Who wins the greatest % of their matches by opponent error

or vice versa
Who loses most by their own error or by opponent's winner?

I'm going to do the Top 4's Grand Slam Victories

Roger Federer:

2003 Wimby: Error
2004 Aussie: Error
2004 Wimby: Winner
2004 USO: Winner
2005 Wimby: Error
2005 Us Open: Error
2006 Aussie: Error
2006 Wimbledon: Error
2006 USO: Winner
2007 Aussie: Winner
2007 Wimby: Winner
2007 USO: Error
2008 USO: Error
2009 French: Error
2009 Wimby: Error
2010 Aussie: Error
2012 Wimby: Error

12 Errors, 5 Winners, not really reflective of how Federer wins most big points at all.

Rafael Nadal:

2005 French: Error
2006 French: Winner
2007 French: Error
2008 French: Error
2008 Wimby: Error
2009 Aussie: Error
2010 French: Error
2010 Wimby: Winner
2010 USO: Error
2011 French: Error
2012 French: Error

9 Errors, 2 Winners Reflective of Nadal's gamestyle

Novak Djokovic:

2008 Aussie: Error
2011 Aussie: Error
2011 Wimby: Error
2011 USO: Winner
2012 Aussie: Winner

3 Errors, 2 Winners Not really definitive either way.

Andy Murray:

2012 USO: Error

Not enough Wins to determine

Epic statistic. But I think there was already a thread about great shots that ended matches.

Roger Federer | Benoît Paire| Stanislas Wawrinka | Nick Kyrgios

Errr, riiight...

No, but it would be interesting to see something like the ratio of winners to unforced errors of the top 4 in their major final victories, say, to see how effective they are in game.

The final point, supposed to reflect something.. This is what match statistics for winners/UEs are listed for...

Federer / Haas / Safin / Gaudio / Kuerten / Youzhny / Nadal / Gonzalez / Ljubicic / Hewitt / Soderling / Wawrinka / Coria / Nalbandian / Kohlschreiber

Re: Match Wins By Winner or Opponent Error

Nothing interesting here.

Most players play more passively on championship point especially for a grand slam, go for less risk. Its the same for federer, nadal, djokovic, etc. Smart move because the other guy will be under more pressure to try and save that match point because if he screws up, its all over for him.

Re: Match Wins By Winner or Opponent Error

Too inconclusive to project anything. And it's not just because it's picking apart one point, or because literally half of the subjects don't have a large enough sample size (majors) to work with, but because winners/UFEs in general are too ambiguous.

A devastating winner hit from an impossible angle and a winner made awfully easy by your opponent don't necessarily mean the same thing, but they're both still winners. By that same token, the opponent could make an easy mistake or get their racquet on everything and it would end in error either way. Ultimately, it's why stats without stories are meaningless, and why the points in question don't say anything about the various players.

Your username and your flag would suggest this to be a stupid thread. In fact, I think this has value if you merge it with the SQT as I've myself often wondered why matches always end on a low.

Players tend to be more aggressive when saving big points than converting them.

RafaelNadalisgod: Your username makes people write you off as a Rafa-loving psycopath, and even I thought this thread would be a mug thread about how Rafa is the best...

It is like the saying, don't judge a book by its cover.

Still, I am disappointed. I was looking forward to defying moreRafatards. They have been lacking in the forum recently.

Regarding the thread: The statistic is very interesting.

I think this is totally nonsense, but 2007 AO's winner was pretty amazing.
