Vienna R1 : Thiem def. Lacko 7-6(3) 6-3

Excellent performance from Thiem, good to see a youngster with a single hand backhand and playing aggressively. He still has plenty of time to improve his strength and speed endurace. Austria needs a successor to Muster, Skoff, Koubek and Melzer if Thiem reaches that level then he'll have done very well.

The break point conversion rate. Thiem 2-4 and Lacko 1-10

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

first ATP MD win against non-WC player iirc :-)

QF vs. Delpo would be huge. think he is motivated to get this unique opportunity

Lacko. I will never understand him. At the beginning of this year he looked good enough to be a top 50 player but he sucked hard since Dubai.

Re: Vienna R1 : Thiem def. Lacko 7-6(3) 6-3

I can tell you - he thought he don´t have to train more, he fell asleep on that position. What was worse, clay season started and he was again on zero point.

On grass little resurgence and after 3rd round in Wimbledon same story as after Dubai/Miami. He was referred to be "injured" but I don´t take these bullshits.

His bilance from Wimbledon (only non-challengers) is atrocious, 1-10 and still get career-high 51st position.

After Zagreb final he said he didn´t want to be journeyman on tour anymore. Well, 5 first round exits in summer in a row till Davis Cup, where he lost in straights to Sousa, then another 3 first round losses till today (with only reaching R2 in Tokyo and final in Tashkent CH). Not to mention his 5 clay tournaments this year - yes, 5 straight 1st round losses.

Lacko will be out of top 100 in March, unfortunately.

Roger Federer - Martin Klizan - Lukas Lacko - Milos Raonic - Fernando Verdasco

Dustin Brown - Nick Kyrgios - Norbert Gombos - Stanislas Wawrinka - Dominic Thiem

Shame really. I'm a fan of him. The guy is really talented and his game is beautiful. He underachieved so far but he only has himself to blame. A player with his talent should be a top 30/40 player at least.

Lacko obviously never works hard and you can see that he doesn't have the desire to go far in his career when you see him play.

Looks like the future is in decent hands in Austria, almost like Melzer just passed the torch, awesome win here.

I am sorry guys, but what was beautiful about Lacko's game? I just don't see it and I'm no hater...He seems too slow on the court, also his serve looks little weird to me (no feet motion at all)-->I think he can consider himself very lucky to be so high in the rankings.
