Post Spanish Davis Cup team

Here's an article about it if you're interested...I've translated it for you down the bottom...

quién vaya a venir", sentenció.

Ferrero, Moyà, Nadal and Robredo will play the final

Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Moyà, Rafael Nadal and Tommy Robredo will make up the Spanish team that will play the Davis Cup final against the USA between the 3-5 December in the La Cartuja stadium in Seville, which is the same team (chosen by the G3: Juan Bautista Avedaño, Josep Perlas and Jordi Arrese) that beat France in the semis (4-1) and Holland in the previous quarter final tie (4-1).

"It's the best team for the final", said Avedaño in a press conference along with the president of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, Agustín Pujol, during which it was also announced that Feliciano López and Fernando Verdasco had been invited to attend as reserve players (hmpf!!).

Besides that, Guillermo García, Ferrero's training partner could do the sparring for the team to prepare for the final. The players are due to arrive in Seville on Friday the 26th.

Avedaño, spokesperson for the technical body, as well as Arrese and Perlas are optimistic of Spain's chances of winning against the USA, "despite the fact that the end of the year hasn't been very good for our players" admitted Avedaño, he also pointed out that the final, at home and on clay, would be "nothing like the way they have been playing recently" and that Spain is the favourite.

"We're playing on clay at home and in front of about 23 000 fans and with a team that hasn't lost in 11 ties (not sure what he means by that?!). We've got everything going for us and we are the favourites, without meaning to underestimate anyone" underlined Avedaño, who mentioned the players' "incredible desire", especially Moyà's, since he was absent in the final in 2000 in Barcelona which gave Spain its one and only Davis Cup title.

For Jordi Arrese, it doesn't matter who their opponents are. "The most important thing is that our guys are at their best because they're the best on clay and, with all due respect, we shouldn't have to worry at all about who's coming (from the US team)"

I assume that would mean they haven't lost in the last 11 ties while playing in Spain.

The last one they lost was against Brazil, though Argentina ran them very close in Malaga.

Mariano having a bad cramp and Gaston having a horrible experience with an unsympathetic captain, but Spain got through it.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

5-0 would be great, but I am looking forward to the DC final and when "Ducky" starts acting up he better not cry when 23, 000 Spanish fans give him the bird.

Good luck to the Spanish team!

For the first time, they are facing a country other than Australia for the title clash. Good luck to the Armada!
