I think it is important to defend his points next week in Shanghai if he wants to get a shot at No.1 early next year. Losing a few hundred points here is no big deal though.

Wouldn't say they mean nothing - if he wants to get to #1 he needs to perform all year on the tour as well as the slams. But he didn't play awful today, he wasn't at his very best and a better player on the day took advantage. That happens in tennis. Take it on the chin, move on - and remember what an awesome year he's had already anyway

He's not a fan.

I think it means more for Milos than it does for Andy though. This could be somewhat of a milestone in his career. He certainly learned a few things from that loss at the USO.

Yup, great year, we really shouldn't be complaining.

Yes, definitely a bigger deal for Milos. This was what we expected of him in terms of approach at the US Open given his slight swagger going in, but maybe he just froze in that moment. Not this time - he played it perfectly. We'll see if this kicks him on but he's been brittle under pressure at times before - this week he's finding some clutch wins against very good players.

Sapoed: "I didn't watch the match, but Andy must've played bad. When he plays well, he beats everyone"

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

It will include:

-
- Murray was awful today, played at 10% of his ability
- If he plays at 50%, he's better than everybody on tour
- Ok, maybe JesusFed could take a set off him
- He won a slam
- He won a FUCKING slam
- Some statement ending in
-

Raonic played better on a court that allows him to play at his full potencial.

The only thing that is surprising is how Murray quickly returned to his old-self and crappy on-court behaviour. Lendl will be MAD.

Losing from 4-1 up in the decider against Raonic Tennis was saved today. Nishikori to give it even more life tomorrow

I don't think he froze at the USO, Murray just was in the zone for the night match, and here Andy was definitely not in the zone.

Oh, that was probably it. Lendl wasn't there so he was free to return to his true, whiny self on the court.

Agreed. I don't even think Milos played that poorly in the USO against him (at least compared to what he was doing in the early rounds of that tournament). It was a combination of the slow courts and Murray's intense, driven focus that created that smackdown.

Also, I'll never get this obsession with Sapeod- every other big 4 has several at least as bad as he is, usually worse.

Good one that Raonic didn`t push today as he was doing in some matches I was watching last monthes. He tried to dictate the points quickly moving to net (his skills there are average though). Is shows right mentality, he won`t win big matches with another tactic.

Gasquet is next №1
