More important for one's GOAT resume: Slams or Time Spent at #1?

Usually the 2 most widely cited and weighted stats, weeks at #1, and total slams.

But which is more important?

Me, I think #1, but slightly. It denotes that you are the best in the world, not that you are one of at least the top 4.

Though slams are the next best thing.

#1. Grand Slams are just a glorified Delray Beach.

Slams. Even a clown like Rios managed to eke out a few weeks at #1. To win a slam you need talent (or wind) .

Slams

Roger Federer

Form is temporary, class is permanent

"The more you lose, the more they believe they can beat me. But believing is not enough, you still have to beat me" RF.

"He is capable of hitting shots which others don't even think about trying" Lendl on RF.

Well the two are obviously related. You don't won't loads of slams without spending time as #1. But I would say slams. Anyway Fed has both records in his resume so he is the GOAT. Both are important.

Easily slams. Otherwise 80-week #1 Hewitt's ahead of 53-week #1 Djokovic, and that's not the case.

Why use that example? I could use the example of Pat Rafter who only got 1 week at #1 but still won 2 slams and reached 2 other finals

And is better than Moya, JCF and Roddick who all got more weeks but less slams.

It usually takes multiple slams to be number 1. Personally, I would rather have a week at number one rather than a GS. Is Gaudio better than Rios?

Neither Djoke nor Hewitt won slams in Roger's peak. Hard to say who is better.

No but that's cause Gaudio never got close to any other big title. Had he won a couple of Masters titles I'd have put him ahead of Rios.

And Gaudio won a GS with no #1, and Rios was #1 with no GS so...?
