Who's The Better Player - Soderling or Ferrer?

We had Ferrer and Berdych and Ferrer and Tsonga before so might as well go with Ferrer and Soderling this time.

For me it's Soderking and it's not even close.

What does it mean to be "better player" in this and similar discussions?

Gasquet is next №1

You're right, it's not close, so what's the point in starting this thread?

A better one would be Soderling or Berdych, but we know you don't like the reality of that.

They'll always be some idiots who vote for Ferrer.

Why not? Soderling is the better player, I've never denied that, Robin is one of my faves too.

+1

... and the point is clearly to follow the "Ferrer-bashing" trolling trend.

When I think that some want the threads about top-players' injuries to go only in players' forums but still want this trolling to keep on on GM

you know why they will ? because they hate the trolling bashing Ferrer in that forum which has gone above all epic proportions : then you have an adverse position defending Ferrer and it keeps on and on ... trolling principle.

If it keeps on like that, I think new rules will have to be added to the forum's rules.

useless old guy

Soderling. He's done two things Ferrer hasn't, won a masters and reached a slam final. He's maybe a level or two above Ferrer in terms of ability, as well.

Soderling, he's in the big book for "his 2 golden french opens" and that nasty Paris1000.

You are so delusional about Davydenko

On topic

Soderling > Ferrer, but Ferrer's much much longer time on tour has allowed him to make it close. Basically, if Soderling did not have mono it would be Soderling >>> Ferrer.

Re: Who's The Better Player - Soderling or Ferrer?

In terms of ability, about equal. Soderling had more power, but Ferrer better speed and footwork, which many mugs on here think is not important.

IMO, talentwise, Berdych >> Soderling.

So delusional 'bout what ?
- WTF title a final and a semi
- 3 masters titles
- 21 ATP titles
- 21/6 W/L ratio in Finals
- 5 consecutive year-endings in top 6
- Davis cup
- Over 450 ATP main draw wins
- Over 15 million career prize money earned
- Piggy roasting

On topic to those who voted for the so-called Ferrer
i only have this --->

MASTERS: 3 TITLES, 5 SEMIS, 10 QUARTERS

Re: Who's The Better Player - Soderling or Ferrer?

The answer to this is exactly the same as with Tsonga and Berdych. Soderling is the better player and it's not even close. Unlike Ferrer, Robin has the game and the weapons to be a legitimate threat and beat the top 3 in Grand Slams. Achievement-wise, the gap is equally big: Soderling has been to a Slam final (twice) and won a Masters title, both of which Ferrer has never done and never will.

To put it simply, Soderling is in the same league as Tsonga and Berdych (legitimate top 8 players, who can and have beaten all the top players in Slams and have an outside shot at a Slam title with the right combination of form and draw) - which is several leagues above Ferrer.

Anyone voting for Ferrer is either trolling or a frankly delusional Ferrertard/Soderling hater.

Great thread btw

Yet another Ferrer bashing thread? Disgusting.

No. Simply a thread comparing him to Soderling.

If it keeps on like that, I think new rules will have to be added to the forum's rules.
What they need is a sub-forum for haters and trolls. If people can be told that fawning over their favourite players should be done in said player's forum, then maybe threads that are meant chiefly to hate on players should be confined to a special haters' forum. I see no reason why it shouldn't be so
