St Petersburg R2 : Gimeno-Traver def. Kubot 6-4 7-6 (5)

Seven matches in a row DGT has gone without losing a set. He started slowly and down 0-4* in the 1st set. Then he broke the Polish LaLo's serve and was able to lift his game serving and hitting the forehand well, even hit a couple of decent backhands.

DGT served for the match at *5-4, total donkey service game but did the business in the TB.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

St. Petersburg 2R DGT def. Kubot 6-4, 7-6 (7-5)

Impressive stuff from Kubot. Went from 0-4* up to losing the first set 6-4. DGT then blows it at *5-4 in the second before taking it on the tie-break.

Kubot on the ad side should have hit kickers to the DGT backhand and put away the weak returns at times. Though the surface isn't too fast in fairness.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

DGT has his moments on HC sometimes, glad he made it today.

didn't see this but as AJ said, you'd think Kubot would be able to win a lot of cheap points serve/volleying to the backhand.

at least enough not to blow a double-break lead. that's pretty shameful for a big server indoors.
