Re: USO Final: Murray beats Djokovic 7-6(10) 7-5 2-6 3-6 6-2

Heartfelt congratulations to Andy Murray on winning his first grand slam singles title and also to Novak Djokovic for his gutty effort down 2 sets to love today and taking it to a fifth set. Both players played their hearts out under brutal win conditions. It seems like the wind gets worse every year at the U.S. Open.

Murray has gotten his first slam and now I wonder how many he can win.

People in Great Britain must be thrilled. Their long 76 year long wait is over thanks to Murray.

Not a big Murray fan but I’ve got to hand it to him for his physical and mental toughness in the fifth set. After getting blitzed in sets 3 and 4 I’d thought for sure he’d fade away.

(I have to say it was a little embarrasing watching Lendl carry on like a wild man. One time he even had an actual facial expression.)

Murray's forehand has really improved a lot since AO semi.
Lendl makes him a more complete player, game wise and achievement wise.

Gotta say. MTF just got an infinite amount more fun for us Murray fans

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Great tip to stay fit and mobile: If you run up and down the stairs two steps at a time at least once daily, there will never come a time when you can't do it. Until of course one day you mistime a step, collapse and break all your bones... That would suck. But you had a good run.

From a compassionate point of view, Murray needed the win more than Novak: a 5th slam final loss especially after a 2 set lead would have destroyed Murray mentally.

Hope Novak, Rafa, Murray share slams from now on. Anyone but Federer is fine with me.
Same sentiment with you buddy. Anyone but Federer...

so now it's one slam a piece for djokovic... nadal... federer and murray this year.... so for those who say that federer having "only" one slam shouldn't be #1.... is it okay now??

anyway congrats to murray... roger says that you will win at least one slam... and you did....

Congrats to Murray and his fans. I didn't enjoy the match so much, yeah we saw some drama ... there were some great points but also so much pushing from both players. just crazy. Djokovic played a really bad match. no excuses tho. he should've known better.

anyway, great win for Muzza. Finally he got it, so people here can't make fun of him any more (or I hope so). Nole missed his chances in the first set, but hey, life goes on. I bet Brits (or shall I say Scots) are probably going wild, lol.

Great job Andy. you eared it. thumbs up.

Muzza just destroyed him physically and mentally

how many times do you see Nole on his hand and knees in all corners of the court today, he just couldnt live with a furious passionate Scotsman marching to what he wants

when Muzza wants, he takes

Those bashing Nole can fuck off as well. 5 time slam champ, fought hard in the third and fourth, ran out of gas in the 5th but he remains the best hard court player on the tour and will be the favourite again come AO time. Nole

Honestly, this is what happens when you don't use the cheating egg anymore. 2011 was a fluke. Flukervic.

Only 5 points between them, that's not many over 5 sets. Well done to Murray, he played better on the day and that's all that counts. The match wasn't a great one - same as the Aust Open final....long and a lot of grinding.
