Re: USO Final: Murray beats Djokovic 7-6(10) 7-5 2-6 3-6 6-2

Congratulations to Murray on his first Grand Slam title. For obvious reasons, there was probably a lot of pressure on him to win his first after such a long drought for the UK, and maybe he will play more freely now.

I am of course sad for Nole, but truly, kudos to Murray for getting that monkey off of his back.

Now, he can relax and play more freely. 2013 should be interesting- good matches to distract me from my studies!

Nole needs to take a breather and find himself again. Too much courttime, loss of confidence- he needs some time off. Still, good on him for staging the comeback.

Please guys, lets not hate on Murray's moment. He won, Nole lost. I accept that and you can too.

It takes terrible tennis + wind + lack of rest + bleeding on both legs (knees) from Djokovic for Murray to win a slam in 5 sets.

From a compassionate point of view, Murray needed the win more than Novak: a 5th slam final loss especially after a 2 set lead would have destroyed Murray mentally.

Hope Novak, Rafa, Murray share slams from now on. Anyone but Federer is fine with me.

Congrats Murray (and Sapeod )

Not going to lie, I was obviously hoping Djoko would take it but at least Fatbaldian moved up one spot in "best never to win a grand slam".

As for the quality of the match, it was abysmal. The wind increased the UE count a high number.

As soon as Djoko gave up 5-3 in the tb I had big doubts right away whether he could win.

Federer was the pioneer of first-strike all-court tennis. This is the real tennis and the beautiful game. Never forget the beauty of what was tennis. Nadull and Fakervic don't win tennis matches. They simply outlast their opponent with endless grinding and stamina. That is ugly. Beautiful tennis is gone now. Never forget the good days of real tennis.

Fedal is dead, long live Muzzovic

With Federer getting older and older and spending more time playing with the girls, and Rafa has the knees of an 80 year old, I predict the majority of slam finals over the next few years will be won and/or contested by these two, in their prime.

I think Djokovic will end up with 10 slams and Murray with 7 slams.

Awful match, terrible result. The USTA gifts the title to Murray. Congrats to all Mugray fans, especially those that curse all the time like Hooliganray. Enjoy it while it lasts.

he's a champ now and fully deserves it. Novak had momentum after set four, failed to capitalize or couldn't, since he started to cramp. Muzza was perfect at 3-2. From then on it was one-way street.

If anyone had to beat Djokovic in a final, I am glad it was Murray. Now we have a serious 2013 ahead of us, if everyone stays healthy.

and stuff all the haters here am really sick of your pointless posts. this used to be a good forum.

night.
Good post, the rare thing here.

I'm actually happy for Murray. He deserved this long time ago. It sucks that he had to beat Djokovic to do it, but we all know this is the rivalry of the future. Probably the best for tennis. Now, Nole, get up, you fought like a gladiator, you will win many more majors.

In that case pretty much all tennis commentators are clueless.

Overall quality certainly wasn't great, but there were some good rallies.

A long rally isn't necessarily a bad, pushing rally. It can be an excellent display of tactics, court coverage and variety.

Did anyone else notice how Djoker tried the bullet return at MP down - thinking that if he made it, it would put demons in Murray's head after what happened to Fed last year.

Missed it this time, though.

Well done to Andy and also to Lendl who I think made the difference.
